CPU running 48 degrees on IDLE!

I just got the fx 8350 and I had a aftermarket cooler but it wasn't functioning right so I went ahead and used the stock cooler. Now I know amd is known for VERY hot technology but I'm idling at 48 degrees... With NOTHING opened and I am running at stock clocked speed. Is there something wrong with my cpu or the thermal paste or anything else?

Also it is running LOUD!!! Over 4,000 RPM

whats the fan running it? my GPU for example runs at 55C or so all the time, due to my fan going down to 28% when not being under load

Your silicon is on the unfortunate end? Also, it summer, so maybe its cause your room is hot? Also, a good aftermarket cooler will help you out a lot.

That's pretty normal for a stock cooler

intels stock coolers work A LOT better

I'm on the fence about that. It may be because Intel chips run cooler, too.

I can't remember the exact numbers, but i'm sure my old AMD athlon x3 with the stock cooler ran a little warmer than this at stock.

That said, aren't all CPU's good for temps up to 80 or 90 degrees?

Probably better than intels but really bad...

My old athlon ran at 23°C idle and 48°C load though (It actually used 130W) with the stock cooler. Maybe they got worse

That's kinda what I meant the lower tdp helps in that the coolers don't have to be great

fx series max temp is about 72 on core and 65 on socket, you can push it higher but it's not good
