The Man-Cave [99.9% Complete]

smogsy

mind telling us what the budget for this thing was?

Did not have a strict budget, but want it under 10k GBP (think i'm close if not 100 over) :

Quick Update Network Diagram.

both Broadband are connected at all times if one goes down, it auto switches to the other with no down time. tested this by playing a fps game online & unplugging the broadband the game barely notices & carry on playing :)

in the above diagram, why not just run cabling from the 24 port switch? I am assuming there was a reason for the 2 8 port switches, but can you tell us why? I'm curious as to their main purpose. good build log btw!

With today's technology I often wonder why we don't have colonies on the moon or Mars. Then I go to Wal Mart for 5 minutes and realize the vast majority of the human populace isn't ready for such things.

Sweet, sweet mother of Mary!

In all seriousness, this is an awesome project. And your setup reminds me of one on Pimp My Setup.

24 port will be point of entry to the cabin:

This will then connect to different areas of the cabin.

Connection #1

24 port to 8 port (entertainment area)

TV, PS3, Blu-ray, MediaCenter, Sky,Other Consoles,

Connection #2

24 port to 8 port (development/Gaming area)

Gaming PC,Laptop Other Wired Devices

saves me running 8 wires under the floor & gives me mass expansion.

could have 48 port switches in each corner if i wanted :)

Maybe it is just me but a 24 port switch seems overkill to hook 3 things into lol

Ok OP I'm willing to cut a deal with you.

I'll help you finish the rest of the project if you could spare a corner of a room for me to sleep in so I can move in.

That good? Yeah that's good. See you soon.
