El Cheapo PC

Tea1337

If you prioritize getting work done instead of gaming (example= rendering), the APU is not going to cut it.

Something like an i5 is going to be HUGE over the A10.

For light stuff like minecraft and mobas it's going to work just fine, and you can add a GPU later down the road if you feel you need it. This way you don't get stucked with an underpowered CPU on the future.

I was going to go with an i5-4440, but the a10-6800k can be overclocked, and I will be overlcocking it and it will beat the 4440 sadly, but thanks for the suggestion.

Overclock this sucker and you'll be a happy clam. For future gaming purposes, try to save and get a dedicated GPU and the mobo will allow you to upgrade to an i5 or i7 in the future.

I was going to get the pentium g3258, but the IGP is weaker and it lacks cores and those I really need.

AMD cpu are almost always weaker than intels. Just because you overclock an a10 doesnt make it better, especially when comparing to an i5! Ghz isnt just a number. Ever wonder why on most games now a days, it says for recommended specs being a Quad Core Intel or a 6-8 core AMD? Because intel has more performance per core. That is why the i3 and i5 will outperform any AMD APU out there currently.

Eh, people have been doing insane overclocking with the 20th Anniversary Pentium, so I said why not.

benchmarks are worthless. Not to mention I wouldn't trust CPU boss if my life depended on it.

Then show me some proof the A10 beats an i3 or i5.

And im almost certain if that review said the a10 won, you would say it was true.

Overclocking is a hobbie, and it's awesome, however even if you get the A10 to 4.5ghz, it's not going to beat the 4440 :(

Exactly! Even the i3 beats the A10! Good benchmark. So OP, please go with the i3 or i5 if looking for performcance per dollar. You wont regret it.

Because I have something at stake...Like somehow the A10 being better will make my E-pen better? I don't have either in my build, so in no way does it matter to me which one is better.

Well that is true, but it comes stock at 4.1ghz, and being a pretty good OC'er I should be able to push it to 4.8ghz. And thank you for showing that benchmark, but I don't mean to be stubborn but I'm pretty focused on getting the APU because I can overclock.

The i5 will no question beat an APU. But, for gaming purposes the A10 is usually* better than the 4130 as 8670D will outperform HD 4000 series.

*dependent on the games/applications

That's if the A10 overclocks well. Silicon lottery, right? Welp, time to send out the @Faa signal again... Na na na na na na, Faa! Here he comes to save the day! Here he comes to educate err... the hay? Whatever, here's the Faa signal.

If OP adds a decent GPU in the future like say, a R7 265, then the A10's IGP will be beat.

You don't see much benchmarks that put the APU on such high clocks.

I would bet the A10 at 5.0ghz can get a tiny bit faster than the i5 4440, or an i3, but It would be on some applications, and having a GOOD motherboard (remember, those CPUs don't have the voltage regulation inside them), and enough cooling for such clock speed, will increase the cost of the build. The i5 4440 can be seen as 'boring', no OC, no boosts, but it's going to be an incredibly solid and stable, reliable partner. The A10 might have to step back its OC on a hot summer day.

@Tea1337 Have you considered getting a Used system, I bet there are basic systems with stuff like the i5 3570k, on good shape, for this pricepoint.

P.D. looks like the website is having some issues, my comment was delayed quite a bit.

I have looked at used systems, but I just can't trust getting one. I am getting the MSI Gaming A88x motherboard, so it's an extremely good motherboard for $110. Also, My PC will be located next to a vent, and my house is always at 75*F, so even if it's 124*F outside, I won't have an effect on my temps

It will be a good 4 months before I can get a GPU. So I choose the A10 because of the stronger IGP

4 months isn't a terribly long time, especially considering the i5 is a better cpu--and should be able to handle minecraft without any issues.
