Nope, most of the time it's tough to tell the difference between 4k and 1440p, especially if you run at least 4x AA. I just isn't an important gaming res and won't be for many years.

Are you threatening me?!

Just a bit off topic with the rest of this conversation here :x Does anyone know what's the name of the test software linus has in most of his videos? When he's going on about the rationale or recommended procedures, the display or monitor usually has that test software going through the forest or rendering scenes and such (see it in the video at 21:35.) I used to have alot of that software from NVidia's website for testing but I can't remember the name for it :C If someone could put a link, that'd be great.

The good news is that this build will work swimmingly with surround/21:9 1440p and high refresh rate 1440p.

I missed something in the video I think. Why use 2400 ripsaw memory on a motherboard with 1333 support, according to amazon specs. ???

What 3gb VRAM on 4k? You playing Mario or wut you need atleast 6gb for it to be stable, 4gb will barley make it.

Emmh... Maybe consider killing yourself before you talk to me?

Pople on this forum though some of them had a brain, turns out, no.

No, I'm just saying that for pure gaming a titan black is not worth it. For compute applications, it's a great card.

3gb VRAM is not enough for 4k

Hey Guys

My basic question would be What do you think i will need to do to modify this build to fit it to a Prodigy M mAxt case to get adequate cooling?

Probably gonna go with the Asus Maximus VII Gene for the motherboard - but what else do you rate ill need to do - and what would i need to replace and with what to get this to work?

Any Advice guys?

Thanks

Emil

Hello,

I am new to the forums but I am not new to Linus tech tips I have watched his videos for a while now. I am going to build this computer but I had a question. The new nivia GeForce gtx 980 came out, would I be Abel to switch the two 780 in this build for two 980? Would I have to change anything like the psu?

Hope I was able to help! :D

I'm not a tech expert, but I do know a lot about Computers and Networking that I taught myself.

If you have any questions for me, feel free to PM me or reply to my post :)

Quite a lot of new bits have come out since then.

As you said change the 780 for GTX980. But X99 motherboards and new CPU's and DDR4 have come out since then. I'll let someone else spec you specifics for your budget.

Hello sir/lady

to answer your question, no

if anything, you could go with lower wattage psu (not that it matters much), since the new 980 is less power hungry than the old 780 is

if you haven't bought the 780 already and got teh money, go for 980

if you already have 780s and can't return it, keep it, those are still powerful cards

and for the future, i suggest checking the forums first a bit, to see where's what and what not

and post new threads where you think it would fit most, not just reviving an old thread from linuses video

and welcome to the forum young padawan!

What's the difference with the X79 motherboard versus the Z97 model? The X79 isn't readily available where I'm from and the Z97 is a more easily found motherboard. Can I use the Z97 as an alternative to this build? Since the rationale for the X79 choice is its supposed to be optimized with the i7-4930k, can I also use the Z97 instead? Will there be a big difference in performance?

By the way, great video!

Yes! I love these build guides, but I would love to see a build for ~$1000 from linus and see what he would choose

This ultimate build guide is all about getting a great gaming experience at 4K. It's a no-compromises machine... but one that also doesn't just dump money down teh toilet for the sake of it, so while there might (read: will) be stuff out there that's a better bang for the buck, every piece of this monster DOES have a purpose.

I'm going to list out the components as well as provide a source or two for where you can get them :)

I can't tell you where to buy this stuff, but I do lean towards NCIX for the Canadians (and International viewers if their pricing and shipping costs work out for you) because they're my bros, and for Americans, Brits, and a couple other regions, the Amazon links below are affiliate links, so of course every little bit helps :)
