[YouTube]ROG Swift PG278Q Hands-on Video

Accursed Entity

Asus Nordic channel recently uploaded a hands-on video of their newest 1440p 144hz monitor, take a look at this one here:

I was pleased by the looks of it, originally I thought it was too exagerated with the "ROG" looks. But after viewing this video, that changed my mind, I love those thin bezels. What do you guys think? Apart from the known fact that it's TN who's gonna buy it?

ASUS employees cannot pronounce ASUS?

On a serious note, I can imagine how glorious it must be to drive 1440p at 144hz, but I don't have the hardware for it. :(

I am tempted to go for it but it will ruin my surround set-up since Nvidia don't allow different resolutions (yet).

I wouldn't pay $850 for that monitor. If it were say $600 ($499) I'd consider it.

lol it's a long running argument/jestful conversation piece, JJ says it's 'ay-soos' so does Linus and some others (mainly North America) and in Europe I always see people saying 'ay-sus'.

Personally I use a mixture of both depending on how I feel that day :)

According to Taiwan headquarters it's officially pronounced a-seuss. Like Dr. Seuss with an "A" in the front.

Is it a 10 bit TN panel?

They are no 10-bit TN panel. You have 8-bit + FRC to emulate 10-bit colors, much like consumer grade IPS panels.

Keep in mind also, in order to enjoy 10-bit colors you need:

-> A compatible graphics card (so, select Nvidia Quadro, or AMD FirePro)

-> Software that can process and display 10-bit colors

-> and most importantly: content. All standard image formats are in 8-bit colors per channel, so already its not a good start.

Do you plan to buy a second 780ti? How's a single 780ti working on a 1440p for you?

It works great. A second ti will be in order when games like far cry 4 and witcher 3 drop but right now I get

96fps+ which is all I need at the moment.

I don't like the TN panel nor its price, the look is amazing thou!

They had one on display at the Dallas Microcenter... It actually doesn't look bad. Sideways shift wasn't noticeable at all until 45 degrees or so. Vertical really shouldn't matter, as you're not using this as a TV.

I want the PB279Q, though. That 4K IPS... Sub $1000...

I wouldn't pay $850 for that monitor. If it were say $600 ($499) I'd consider it.

I wouldn't unless it was 200$

Gosh it is impossible to look at monitors on 1080p YT vids, I guess I just need to look at this stuff IRL.

Anyone else notice the white stuck pixel in the top center of the lower left quadrant of the screen? That thing is driving me nuts, I had to watch the vid twice because I was so distracted the first time!
