Go to solution Solved by Oshino Shinobu,

COMPLETE!

Everything wired up, side panels on, booted and Windows installed. Still got some software setup to do, but I won't be documenting that.

Going to take some final pictures soon, probably today with my phone, but I'll take some more, better ones with my friend's camera or another camera if I can find one I can use. For now I've left you a Shinobu gif as a placeholder.

It's taken a while, but I've really enjoyed this build. I feel like I've learnt a fair bit about modding from this build as several things didn't go to plan and I had to change things as I went along. Finishing this has made me want to create another rig (probably a media PC/720p gaming). I have a few ideas for it, among which are designing it in a Mirror's Edge art style or using an anime character as a base (probably Shinobu or another character from the Monogatari series). Keep an eye out for another build log from me at some point in 2015.

Thank you to everyone who's followed, commented, provided helpful criticism and suggestions, complimented or just looked at the build log. I'll be submitting it to build logs of the month/week soon, so please vote for it if you have the chance (:

Bye for now (:

tumblr_mgcikkZdyN1rnrot7o1_500.gif

I don't think I've been 'out' with friends for around 2 years xD I've only had a few beers since I turned 18 over a year ago, it just doesn't appeal to me. Computers and anime are much better. Speaking of which, I'm planning on getting an external RAID enclosure and using the hard drives I get from my dad to store as much anime as I can.

It's usually once or twice per 3 - 5 months for me. I had a shot about 2 weeks ago, but before that I haven't had a drink in at least 3 years.

Sounds like a plan, I wish I didn't have to go and buy hard drives when I needed more space. lol....

Can't wait to see the completed project ^^

Thanks. Should be buying a few more watercooling parts this week, but I'm moving soon and have a load of bills coming up so I'm short on money ):

Because why not positive air pressure? :D

Positive air pressure and also supplying more fresh air to the top rad. I'll have to see how it works, I might switch it to exhaust depending on how well it does.

You need to add a warning in your title that you'll mess your pants when you see the build.

You gotta do you girl. I always say you gotta do you. And if he's doing him, then who's doing you? Because right now, it seems like no one's doing you.

Haha, it's not even close to done xD Next thing I'm planning on getting sorted is the SSD mounting plate.

Its builds like yours that somehow make me feel bad about my GTX780.  :( Either way the warning should be about objectophilia now.

Just an idea. I've been looking at different SSDs, and a lot of the ones I like the look of have their connectors on the right hand side (like PNY SSDs and 840 EVOs), meaning I can't mount them in my 750D without turning them upside down. I was thinking of removing the mounts and drive cage, then creating a plate to mount them on.

Just a really quick sketch up, let me know what you think.

what about having them with connectors to the front then adapting your sata cable to how you need it

put the connectors towards the front of the 750d on the ssds, then having a hole near the front to run the sata cables through, i think i was blabing out of my ass for the cables part though

The connectors are near the front. Having a single hole to run the cables through will look a little messy I think, I want to  see as little of the cables as possible.

This is going to the right of the motherboard. The SSDs will be mounted in the same location as the existing mounts, only with the connectors facing the front of the case so that the SSDs are the right way up. I'll be using right angled sata cables, so it should be pretty clean.

Thanks. I'm short on money at the moment, so I can't do too much right now. I've got the measurements for the plate and everything, just need to wait until I get paid to send the design to a laser cutting place.

Little update:

Just ordered a few new parts from Scan. Only £1 more to get it delivered on Saturday rather than Monday, I love Scan (:

The first three items are pretty boring really, but the pump and pump cover are much more interesting. I'll take pictures of the pump when it arrives, then pictures after I've installed the cover kit too. Might have to angle the pump slightly so that the nickel cover is in view. Also, I'll be sleeving the pump cables, but I've lost all of the paracord I had, so I'll have to order some more unless I can find it again. (seriously no idea where it is)

Note: The internal tube says preorder, but this is actually taken after I ordered them. The invoice I got didn't have pictures, so I just went and added them to the basket again. Hopefully the tube will come with everything else.

I only took pictures of the pump because the other parts are all pretty boring on their own.

Back of the pump looks awful like this ): Let's put on the cover.

I'm going to sleeve the cables in black paracord, but I've lost all of mine (spent 2 hours looking for it) so I've had to buy some more. Hopefully it'll come by Tuesday.

now that'll be a sexy pump.

muh specs

Gaming and HTPC (reparations)- ASUS 1080, MSI X99A SLI Plus, 5820k- 4.5GHz @ 1.25v, asetek based 360mm AIO, RM 1000x, 16GB memory, 750D with front USB 2.0 replaced with 3.0  ports, 2 250GB 850 EVOs in Raid 0 (why not, only has games on it), some hard drives

Screens- Acer preditor XB241H (1080p, 144Hz Gsync), LG 1080p ultrawide, (all mounted) directly wired to TV in other room

Stuff- k70 with reds, steel series rival, g13, full desk covering mouse mat

All parts black

Workstation(desk)- 3770k, 970 reference, 16GB of some crucial memory, a motherboard of some kind I don't remember, Micomsoft SC-512N1-L/DVI, CM Storm Trooper (It's got a handle, can you handle that?), 240mm Asetek based AIO, Crucial M550 256GB (upgrade soon), some hard drives, disc drives, and hot swap bays

Screens- 3  ASUS VN248H-P IPS 1080p screens mounted on a stand, some old tv on the wall above it.

Stuff- Epicgear defiant (solderless swappable switches), g600, moutned mic and other stuff.

Laptop docking area- 2 1440p korean monitors mounted, one AHVA matte, one samsung PLS gloss (very annoying, yes). Trashy Razer blackwidow chroma...I mean like the J key doesn't click anymore. I got a model M i use on it to, but its time for a new keyboard. Some edgy Utechsmart mouse similar to g600. Hooked to laptop dock for both of my dell precision laptops. (not only docking area)

Shelf- i7-2600 non-k (has vt-d), 380t, some ASUS sandy itx board, intel quad nic. Currently hosts shared files, setting up as pfsense box in VM. Also acts as spare gaming PC with a 580 or whatever someone brings. Hooked into laptop dock area via usb switch

So, as I said in my last post, I lost my paracord. I spent ages searching for it, but gave up and ordered some more. The day after I order it, I find the paracord I already had -.- I'm going to have enough to do two full PSUs now.

Anyway, pump sleeving is underway and pictures will be up in an hour or so.

Sleeving done!

Had to use heatshrink to get the cables to stay, would've preferred to do it without though. Either way, looks better than the normal wires on their own.

Decided to sleeve my spare 8 pin cable while I had all of my sleeving stuff around. I've seen more and more boards using two 8 pin connectors, so I might be needing it if I decide to switch to Haswell-E in the future.

-snip-

I really like the sleeving without the heat shrink, good job.

I am waiting to see this build done.

I am a "stupid" 17 year old that can solve a rubik's cube in under 30 seconds and that is getting into pc gaming.

Thumbs up?
