Build-Off Week 45/46: Gaming Heaven

Welcome to Week 45/46 of the LTT Build-Off! The rules and guidelines can be found here.
Thank you @dragoon20005 for suggesting the challenge.

This is going to be a monster of a machine. The only requirement is that your PC must be able to drive a 4K or greater resolution monitor (or monitors). An alternative would be 3 1440p monitors, which actually have a greater number of pixels than 4K. The GTX Titan Z and R9 295X2 look quite appealing now, don't they?

Budget: $5,000
Speakers/Headphones: Yes
Mouse: Yes
Keyboard: Yes
Monitor: Yes
Submissions: May 31st through June 5th
Voting: June 6th through 12th

N.B. This is a double length contest because I have a few final papers and projects due in the next couple weeks and it would be better to make a long contest than be too busy to update two short ones (as I've done in the past).

I share that view, but with a budget like this it might be a decent choice, although not the best.

These 6GBs 780 is just... love xD I get that the R9 295x2 is good, but frankly it's just 2 R9 290x with 4GBs memory each, so although the EVGA 780 6GB can only goes up to 3 ways, I've always said that 4 ways is just plain waste of money since the performance gain from 3 ways to 4 ways is really small, and in total this 3 ways cost about 1740$, about 240$ more than the R9 295x2 but will perform better (I would still like to see a 780Ti with 6GB ram though)

Also it seem like the new i7 4790k will be out early June, so maybe I will come back to change it since I still have a 100$ headroom left

The reason I goes with 3 1440p monitor instead of 4k is because of multitasking. With 3 monitor you can do loads of different stuff on each monitor, while with 1 4k monitor you maybe able to divided it to 4 separate 1080p but I just plain dont like it. Having stuff sideway instead of up or down seem more natural to me.

I figured this would be a good opportunity to try a 4K mITX build.

The psu is not modular because of case restrictions and the size of 700W+ psu. The two 120mm radiators mount side-by-side in the top.

Black/Red theme

my choice of the monitor may look overkill with this build but this monitor serves as a backup monitor while waiting for the Asus ROG Swift 1440P 120Hz monitors which are coming in Dec as shown in the picture

ROG-SWIFT-PG278Q_RIGHT.jpg

you can remove the monitor and you get extra 100+ dollars for a full water cooling system and use a dirt cheap monitor

4 Way X-Fire 290X but they will be water cooled with EK waterblock in a 4 way loop

still a WIP thou

Probably will be the only all-AMD build in this category. Wanted to do something different and may not get many votes because of that, but meh. It's a fun build and this is a beastly machine none-the-less. :)

usually we try to keep it below the 5k budget limit and yes even it exceeds 1 cents it is consider overbudget you can cut back on certain parts to keep in budget

k so first I get my mouse of choice, the avior 7000 with its optical sensor and bunch of buttons. then 3 asus 144hz 1080p monitors, with money saved for the gysnc upgrades. I would try dat lightboost 120hz till gsyncs comes out and hopefully makes it work with 144hz and variable refresh. then a 10 keyless mechanical keyboard. then a gtx 780 ti. then a haswell 6-core. then 2 sandisk 240gb ssds in raid. then 16 gigs of low cas latency ram. then the most expensive noctua heatsink (I assume its dabes, but dunno.) the cheapest lga 2011 motherboard. this rosewill case that reminds me of my haf 932 but with usb 3. a seasonic 850w psu. the hard drive with the highest bits per dollar ratio. 5.1 surround sound speakers. oh there's money left. another 780 ti. I don't know if I actually would because of me hearing multiple gpus cause microstutter. anyway, $4975.55 including los angeles 9% tax and $6.98 on microcenter shipping that pcpl didn't count:

Wow, almost everybody except me and @wng_kingsley7 decided to go with liquid cooling. I guess we're loners.

I'm not in the build-off, I just wanted to play along.
