The Utterly Imbalanced CaseLabs TX10-D build(s)!

VSG

Those black Noctua fans are older products given a color change and a price reduction at the expense of accessories. I will likely go with the Cougars at this point. I tried looking for the Be Quiet Silent Wings 2 140mm but they seem impossible to get in the US at a decent price.

I think you're confusing the two new Noctua lines? According to

Noctua, the black ones are a new line (the IndustrialPPC line),

whereas the Redux line (the cheaper one) is grey. The industrial

line is probably going to be as premium, if not more, than the

standard one (dust and water resistance, fiber reinforced frames,

for example).

Oh is the Redux grey? I see the image below and you are right.. of sorts. The blades are black while the casing is grey. I thought it was completely grey.

The Industrial series is all black with brown/beige accents at the corner.

The Industrial series is definitely not for me, they are quite expensive (and equally premium) and really suited for high FPI rads at the very best. They seem to be really meant as server fans based on their flow descriptions.

The Frame is bright grey, the blades are a darker grey

(well, at least it looks dark grey to me). Pic is from

Noctua's website gallery:

Yeah, they're certainly going to cost you. I don't really have a

need for a 2000 rpm fan (let alone a 3000 rpm one) either. If I

hadn't already bought (and, probably more importantly, modded) all

the fans for my build, I might buy one of the Noctua Industrial

ones and see how it runs when you run it on lower rpms (say, between

700 and 1200 rpm), but the way things are now I don't feel too

compelled to change.

I must say that I'm a sucker for build quality, and from that POV

I do feel a slight tickle for those industrial fans (or even a

San Ace or a Delta, although those are too loud for my needs),

but that's not going to be enough for me to change my setup.

Wait they're already out?!

Depends on which market you belong to. They've been launched

according to Noctua's website, but it might be a while until

you can buy them at your local retailer. For me, they're not

available yet.

The San Aces are available in the US easily and I would much rather go with them than the Noctua fans. A guy on OCN got a few of them recently and they look great too!

What Alpenwasser said! A few places here are showing listings for them but I imagine they will be officially released next week.

I should've waited a while or something... now I really want these prettier fans and just undervolt them.

Why would you want to do that though? There will likely be much better fans at better prices than those at the slower speeds you will get when they are undervolted- including the presently available Noctua fans. Other than the AP-15 and AP-14 (and some Delta and Sanyo Denki fans), most 3 pin fans are best at their set speeds and perform the same if not worse undervolted than other fans at 12v.

Of course if looks are the only factor, go for it. I can't say anything against that :D

Those Corsair fans are AF not SP fans by the way.

Good eye, you win an imaginary rep from me. I can't believe no one across 3 forums caught it till now. Yes, the top 2 fans on the 120mm stack are the Corsair AF series- wanted to see who would catch it first!

I recently bought three 120 × 38 mm San Ace fans, and I also

have some 92 × 38 mm ones, and build quality on them is fantastic,

I really like them.

The downside is that they're too noisy. The 92 mm fans are high-

rpm ones, and the 120 mm, while having pretty low rpms, have

a motor which starts making clicking sounds when you undervolt

them, so they're not very well suited for my purposes.

I have searched high and low for 140 × 38 mm San Ace (or Delta,

or Nidec and so on) fans wich low enough rpms for my purposes,

but the ones I have found are 40 USD and more, and most likely

still too loud judging from my experiences so far. But I'd love

to have some, because build quality. :D

Aside from that, I really don't need high performance from my

fans, the most important thing is that they are as inaudible

as possible when I undervolt them, and for that my Spectre

Pros are very fine. :)

May I point out Seross and his white TX-10D with THREE pedestals?

He is 5'9" tall and that case doesn't even have the extended 150mm top on yet. Check out his build log here if interested: http://www.overclock.net/t/1374618/sponsored-excessive-insanity-5-computers-in-a-case-labs-tx10-d-with-triple-pedestals-sponsored-by-ek-water-blocks

Ya, most fans are not really good when undervolted. That's why I prefer PWM fans. Then I find out Corsair uses a stupid proprietary PWM signal that is not adhering to the Intel standard so that was a setback. Not surprised to hear the 92x38 mm San Aces were loud- I can imagine that totally! The good performing 140mm San Aces are loud and the quiet ones are not good performers :(

Hehe.. That's more or less already taken: http://www.overclock.net/t/1469897/build-log-mont-noir-2-0-sth10-quad-lightnings-5x1-eyefinity-140mm-rads-and-fans-finished/0_50

That guy is crazy about green, particularly the radioactive green.

Case isn't green. >:(

Green accents? xD

went crazy with photoshop, but I hope you get the Idea.

I hate you for that  :P

I can definitely see where people can like that, but I am more of a subtle kind of guy myself. I would love to see you go with something like that if/when you next get the chance.

As far as the banners/avatar goes, thanks for the offer. I will be sure to take you up on it if I feel like it. Good stuff in there already!

Hate me for photoshopping a pic?

I'm confused about that whole post. xD

Go with what for my next chance at what?
