What dpi/cpi do you usually have your mouse set to?

Jamdude

I usually have my mouse at 600cpi, I just want to see what others have set their mice to.

1400 for desktop use and 1100 for games as i find 1400 a little too twitchy in games

I set my dpi to around 3000 when playin fps games. Maybe a bit higher for others and just max it when browsing and such. 6400 prob.

High dpi when gaming can be difficult at 1st but you get used to it and then it feels weird when u put it back down

I was using my old optical mouse before I buy my G600. And I do remember discussing my windows mouse settings with Toby and now I can't paste them here. Anyway, I try to type them back here, Windows Mouse Settings at Pointer Options tab pointer speed was set to fast(maxed out) and Enhance Pointer Precision ticked because It felt strange when I untick them. It's like the cursor move before I move my mouse. After I got my G600, I never realise I left those settings in windows mouse settings hanging there. I slowly use the mouse and as time goes by, I started increasing the G600 dpi 500 roughly few days after few days by using the software provided on their official website. And now I stopped at 6000dpi @ 1000Hz polling/report rate. though some latest FPS games out there still doesn't have mouse sensitivity, I decided to set my sniping mode level to 800 > 2000 > 6000 > 8200. Nothing much, the mouse doesn't have weight system so it's like a dead weight to me causing me to increase the dpi overtime because I've been using light-weight optical mouse all the time.

If it's too long to read, here's my summary :

6000dpi @ 1000Hz report/polling rate

Enhanced Pointer Precision : tick

1200. Trying to see how low a DPI I can tolerate, but due to having an anchored wrist I'll probably never go below 900ish.

Anything you get used to will feel strange when you change, but depending on the sensitivity setting/resolution, you may find you get better results with a lower DPI (if you tend to set in-game sensitivity low to medium-low, 3k is probably workable).

Edit: Austin, try setting your windows pointer speed to 6 (right in the middle) and then disabling pointer precision.

Thanks for all your input guys, I didn't realise that really high dpi settings were commonly use, I might have to try going above 2000 sometime soon :)

I find a lower dpi helps me in fps games as I can more easily make slight adjustments rather than having a high dpi and struggling to correct my aim a tiny amount, accidentally overshooting or something.

Are those settings equivalent with the ones I mentioned above? I'm just curious. :D

lol u guys use such high dpi. i used to use 6400 which took me 2 inches/360 in bf3 but now i use 400(for everything) and its like i got aimbot! 24 inches/360 approximately.  180 degree turn in one mousepad swipe.

BLAOW!!!!

Not quite. The way pointer speed works isn't additive, but multiplicative. 6/11 is 1:1. Any lower than that and windows will skip readings, while any higher and it'll insert interpolated ones. It's this that makes the mouse feel horrible for a lot of people if they're using anything but 6/11 (3/11 is supposedly usable too, but I don't know), which may be what "enhanced pointer precision" is remedying for you. So I'm wondering if 6/11 without EPP might feel better for you than 11/11 without EPP.

I usually go 1600 and game on 1920x1200. for me that's twitchy enough that I can target easily, not so twitchy that I end up spinning in circles facing straight up at the sky.

Ah well thanks a lot.  I was reading about muscle memory and seeing as though I am used to a low sensitivity, it was probably not the best idea to triple to dpi I'm currently using as it would take a while to get used to, my aim would probably be worse in fps games, and then it would take a while for me to get used to low sensitivity again, meaning I would have to redevelop the muscle memory for it.

It is pretty awkward at first  tbh but after u get used to it,  it can help u react a bit quicker.

A solid 6400 DPI for everything including FPS.

Was brought up using a high sensitivity mouse and now I can't go down any lower, In fact i'm looking for a mouse with any DPI higher than 6400.

There are a few mice that go beyond 6400dpi, in fact, my Level 10M mouse goes to 8200dpi.....though I don't see a need for such high dpi. Heck, I play @5760x1200, and I set my mouse to 2050dpi only, with higher dpi, like 5000dpi, it was way too fast and sensitive for me to aim properly.

I use a Razer Mamba @ 5600DPI

Personally I prefer higher DPI mouses, and like someone said in a post before, I would probably prefer an even higher DPI mouse.
