Hey guys,

 

So this build isn't exactly what it first appeared to be. Over the last couple of months several members of LTT have been working together to build @Lanoi a new computer - and this build is the combination of all of our efforts. The computer arrived earlier today and as such we figured we would update this topic to unveil what we've been up to.

If its a GPU carried over from a previous build it isn't really a problem but if you're buying the whole build, you could reallocate your budget elsewhere?

I don't think this will be a new GTX580. Probably the rest of the build is new and budget friendly. I am slightly confused and wondering what the budget was for the system. But it looks like he allready bought the parts, because pictures will come soon? ^^ 

But then again, seems like this are his first 3 posts so I always suggest people to go to new builds and planning before buying parts. 

Overall tought if my idea is correct that he bought the other parts and will re-use the GTX580. This is a pretty sweet build.

A 580 really isn't that fast anymore. I doubt it's faster than a 7870 or a gtx 660, considering all of the driver updates GCN and kepler have gotten since launch.

From OP's benchmark, it isn't too far behind a system with a GTX 760, so I wouldn't underestimate it so soon.

From OP's benchmark, it isn't too far behind a system with a GTX 760, so I wouldn't underestimate it so soon.

 

I used to have a GTX 570. I did a test with BF4 beta because I was amazed how well my GPU handled that game. High/ultra settings, 0 AA, 1080p. I would get about 40 frames during heavy fights and a good 50/60 when there was not a lot happening. 

The card was slightly overclocked, but not to it's max. 

A 580 will still do 'oké' for a while if you turn down your settings @ 1080p. 

I am still confused about the 580 tough. It has it's dust covers so is it a new one @Project Affinity ? 

Anyway nice build, decent cable management. 

 

Edit: You will probably get better CPU temps if you flip that top mounted fan around. It's now sucking away cool air that the CPU wants to get. It's always better to have more intake then outtake fans. Fresh and cold air!

sortof, slusamguh forgot to include the PSU power cable but lanoi has one so its back on track
