what does gaming mean to you?

TN or IPS or VA?

60hz or 120hz or 140 hz or over 9000 hz?

does it have to have a small bezel for surround?

Hello guys,

Could anyone suggest me a good gaming monitor?

I'm using a S23A700D and it's great so far. From what I hear the ASUS 144Hz monitors are great too.

   An IPS and 120Hz

IPS display are limited to 60Hz. Only TN displays can do 120Hz.

I'd rather get a good IPS monitor over a 120Hz TN. 5-8ms response time isnt noticeable ( okay some people might notice it but 95% wont ). Though a 120Hz IPS would be awesome

Hey there. You are looking mighty fine today, have my virtual cookie!

For fast paced first person shooters, I think the best gaming monitors are cheap TN, small size screen monitors. Maybe 22"-24" max. The larger screen means you have to look at a larger area and you are more likely to miss things in you peripheral vision. People say you won't notice the response time of 5ms. My Asus PB278Q has a specified response time of 5ms. I really notice it! I can't see any difference but I can sure as hell feel a difference through the mouse. Nothing feels quite the same. I am back using a crappy 22" TN monitor for gaming only. I also overclocked it to 74Hz.

Also, check out this web page. Go to contents and click "input lag".

This was the review for my monitor. Even though Asus say its 5ms G2G, TFTCentral measured it as 16ms.

Don't get me wrong either. I love my Asus. Brilliant picture quality, lovely sized screen with loads of desktop real estate and I would never sell it. But she ain't for fps gaming!
