If I conect a 4 pin fan on 3 pin conection on the motehrboard, I will be able to control the speed with Speedfan?

I am pretty sure you can't.  If you were connecting a 3 pin fan connector to a 4 pin connector then that would be another story.

Nope, it would run at full speed. Third wire is the RPM sensor, fourth wire is the PWM control. Speedfan will still be able to tell you the RPM, but that's it :)

as far as i know a lot of boards make u able to switch between 3 and 4 pin cpu fans and both can be regulated just the way how they are regulated changes. however the regulation works through the bios as far as i know i dont know if software in like windows can still controll this.

on some motherboards yes.. not all 3/4-pin headers are controllable.

I believe you will be able to control the fan speed within the bios, not sure about a 3rd party app, 3pin work off undervolting the fan, the problem with this design is some fans need a starting voltage of 5-7volts so if the profile is set too low some fans wont start (just twitch).

However PWM pulses 12volts to lower the speed, this means you don't lack the start up voltage but can easily control the fan speed, I believe the 4th pin on PWM controls a transistor to pull the current straight to ground bypassing the fans motor. so a PWM fan is essentially a 3pin fan with a transistor to add PWM support.

This diagram shows a digital waveform, the top would represent 12volts being supplied to the fans motor while the low part would represent 0 volts, pulsing this type waveform many thousands of times a minuet makes for a seamless fan speed at various speeds depending on the duty cycle.

If the motherboard can put different voltages through the header : yes

If not : no
