Hey guys,

So I've just installed Ubuntu 13.10 on my Sony Vaio Pro and it was working fine until I went to restart the computer. I can no longer boot into Ubuntu, rather this screen comes up:

Does anyone know how I can get back into Ubuntu and stop the laptop from showing this error screen?

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks.

When you boot go into the BIOS and select the UEFI legacy boot. That should help :) if that doesnt help you should try to reinstall it. Are you dual booting or just running Ubuntu?

I'm just running Ubuntu. I changed to legacy boot and now a black screen pops up with 'Operating System Not Found'. This is what happened when I ran the boot repair summary http://paste.ubuntu.com/7214846/

I don't have a copy of Windows. I tried dual booting it previously and don't think it worked.

Oh. As I remember, VAIO's are locked down like crazy. Proof that Sony sucks even more.

I (kinda) know what it's like. I had some old PC and it was proprietary as it gets.

Wipe the entire SSD with some boot software like Hirens.

Then reload Ubuntu from a USB bootable device.

Afterwards you should be good to go.

Hopefully you made a Windows recovery drive before you started to do anything with re installing

When I was running the Windows 8 Developer Preview i had a similar problem and doing this was what ended up fixing it.

Hope it has worked for you.
