sudden shutdown

hello everyone,

today i have built my new pc however i do have 1 problem,

After like 5 hours being turned on suddently my screen turned black, my fans stoppen spinning.

I screwed the case open and found out that the psu didnt explode (400 watt and old),the hard drive was quite cold and the gpu+cpu+everyting else where not in a bad shape either.

After about 5 minutes i was able to turn it on again and everyting worked fine.

Does anyone know how this can happen?

Thanks in advance

Your PSU or one of your fans maybe shorted out the system... Check the cables, and try another PSU if you can.

Look for some "fat" capacitors, maybe some of them need replacement. What hardware do you have on your system?

Mobo: Asus Maximus Impact VI Processor: Intel 4690K @ 4.4Ghz 1.22Vlts Memory: 2x8 GB DDR3 1866Mhz GSkill Sniper

VGA: Sapphire HD 7970 3GB OC Audio: Asus Impact Supreme FX SSD: Mushkin Chronos 120GB HDD: WD Black 500GB

Power Supply: Coolermaster V650 Semi Modular Case: Bitfenix Prodigy Cooling: Corsair H100i

I have found the problem, my rig was too demanding for my psu. Wile playing games my rig needs more power and the psu security shuts everything down after a amount of time. I already bought a new 500 w psu as replacement
