I love this song. Such a pleasant tune.

 

Some brief thoughts about Shuto, spoiler'd to avoid spoiling the anime for others:

Along with Chitaru and Hitsugi, Shuto is another one of my favorites from Akuma no Riddle. Throughout the series, she's depicted as a calm and calculated person, if not a little aloof towards current events. With good reason, too. The main "gimmick" about her persona is "time," after all. It's reflected in her significantly more mature personality, her speech patterns (I believe the language she uses is more archaic, it's wonderful), and her quirky little asides (commenting on the class's youth, for one, and about maintaining her body and health, for another -- just like an elderly lady ).

 

Unsure exactly what about her past or her traits make her an assassin -- perhaps she's only in the game to fulfill her wish? -- and not sure if it matters any, to be honest. Episode 7 was a very welcoming breath of fresh air (HAH, air, HEH -- watch the episode and you'll get it ) after the heartbreak that was Episode 6 (CHITARUUU, KIRIGAYAAA). I thoroughly enjoyed the amount of thought and personal meaning behind Shuto's assassination attempt, as well as her character.

Some brief thoughts about Episode 8 and Banba, spoiler'd to avoid spoiling the anime for others:

MAN.

Episode 8 is absolutely thrilling. Had this stupid excited grin on my face after they left it on a cliffhanger, and I usually despise cliffhangers.

UGH. SO GOOD.

 

Also, very interesting that Banba's wish for a successful assassination is "nothing."

At first glance, it's a seemingly meaningless little detail.

Thinking about it, though, wouldn't that make her the most dangerous wildcard in the game? Wishing for "nothing" is the same as not being motivated by the game's reward, and that also means she's at liberty to discard all the rules when she strikes. Forget advance notices, not involving the regular faculty, and whatever other restrictions the game has; all she has to do is fulfill her own goals, and she wins.

 

Sorta like the Tanner's role in a game of Werewolf. Screw the Villager Team, screw the Werewolf Team, screw the game, just do whatever it takes and cooperate with whomever to win your own game.

 

Well, in theory. I don't think Banba in Akuma no Riddle actually ignores the game's restrictions, though. She does seem to be abiding by all the rules thus far; although, I've forgotten how Episode 9 turned out and things might change (will watch it tomorrow).

 

TLDR: Banba has some po-ten-tial. Very excited to see Episode 9 tomorrow.
