Have you heard this interesting/weird cover by Helloween?

Andi Deris yodeling.  xD

I don't remember if I've heard that specifically before, but it sure is intersting.

Back when I was young there used to be a lot of Helloween bootlegs going around, which just had them do weird shit:

I don't know if this was a thing in North America, but those bootlegs were widely circulated in Europe.

Talking of weird covers:

If the timestamp doesn't work it's at 11:17.

It's from the Metal Jukebox like the David Bowie cover.

In that case I've definetly heard it before.

It's the same album that contains an ABBA cover

I guess it's the schlager stylings of power metal that makes this work as well as it does.

I had kinda hoped that grandiose piano and violin ballads would've died out in the 2000's, but apparently that isn't the case:

Dang, I had no idea she was still around. I don't listen to her often, but I definitely prefer her older stuff. Let Go was actually a decent album.

She does kinda fall into a category with Sum 41 and Blink182 as relics of a past long forgotten.

While I don't really dislike Let Go, I do think its nostalgia has surpassed its actually quality. Outside of Sk8ter Boi there's pretty much just straight pop ballads throughout the whole thing.

I would argue that Under My Skin is a much better album than Let Go.

That's fair. I definitely remember some of Let Go's songs on the radio from back in the day. Sum 41 is still a good band, I like them quite a bit. Haven't listened to much from Blink182 but I like some of their stuff too. Pop punk is a good genre.

Mind you, when I say they're a relic it doesn't refer to the quality of their music. I only mean to say that pop-punk is mainly indicative of a certain time and didn't really make a lasting mark on popular culture. Kinda like hair metal.

Whether or not any of them were good I can't really say. I'm a bit too old to have been a part of all that jazz.

The only reason I know of Avril Lavigne is because my wife is a huge fan of her.

That's true. Pop punk was pretty popular in the 2000s.

I listened to the radio a lot in the 2000s, that's probably the only reason I know Avril Lavigne.

Yeah, I just never had that kind of exposure to pop-punk. It was never really that popular where I lived.

My first experience with anything even resembling pop-punk was in 2007, when a friend of mine dragged me to an MCR show.

Admittedly, that did introduce me to one of the greatest rock albums of the 2000's, but I never really sought out more.

When musical post-modernism is dead, the only thing left will be the sour sarcasm of Alex Cameron

Where is this in your ´80's revival, the 1975?

That would be moving a bit too close to Umbrella Corp. for my taste.

I was referring to this. The umbrella they've used in the music video which is black outside and red inside.

Oh...

I didn't see that in the video. I just kinda assumed you were referring to an umbrella with black and red panels.

On a different note, don't they sell such stuff as merchandise? Considering that MCR was signed to Warner Music, they should have a metric fuckton of merch.

I'm usually really impartial on the Adam/Matt debate in the Three Days Grace fanbase, but I have to say this is the best song from them that I've heard.
