Are "Superclocked" cards worth it?

Go to solution Solved by Lays,

They "can" be higher binned, but if it's for your GF she probably won't be overclocking anytime soon?

If she won't be overclocking it may be a better idea to spend the extra 10-20$,  and get a higher clocked card to begin with.

Both these cards will run amazingly cool no matter what environment, and if she wants to later, she could OC the balls out of them. (or you could help)

I was looking for a new video card for my girlfriend, she wants to be able to play and WoW/Dota2 and other MMOS good/ultra 60fps, I was thinking getting her an EVGA 750 ti since they are awesomely cheap.

What do you guys think about the superclocked versions? are they worth it?

I would go with the non-SC model.

Depends on whether either of you wants to be assed into overclocking the card yourself (forbidding some freak of nature that makes it impossible). Is your time worth $15? Does your girlfriend want to bother opening MSI Afterburner or something? If your answers to both questions were "no," then just buy the cheaper of the two. In situations were the factory OC'd cards are somehow less expensive than the stock cards (I've seen it happen), it's a no-brainer.

She doesn't like overclocking. Makes her feel "uneasy", i guess the normal one is ok.

I must say those black backplates are sexy as hell.

For WoW at least just be aware the game is CPU bottle necked.

They are NOT higher binned at all. Take a look at the moderate increase in factory clocks - any reference card can reach that. Why pay for a factory overclock if you can do it yourself or let Nvidia boost do it if you are not going to touch anything?
