My only fear about this acquisition is the possibility of a lack of innovation and price gouging through nickel and diming; sell the main occulus with many accessories necessary to get the full experience. The fact that facebook has shareholders means that they will be more concern about the return on their investment rather than create new and exiting technologies. Only time will tell if this is a good merger or not though.

From a consumer stand point, I am saddened..  From a businessman stand point.. By obtaining the company Zuckerberg now is taking lessons from Bill Gates of Microsoft..   Basically to compete with Google Glass, he chose to buy out a competitor. A smart move on his end. a bad move on Oculus end.

That's it. VR is going to slow right down now. I can see that Oculus' development will take a lot longer than before, and the end product will probably be filled with Facebook junk everywhere.

I think the guys at Oculus have to have been smart enough to say, "Ok sure you can acquire us, but only if you let US do all of the work independently."............... I hope so. The money from Facebook is a huge boost but if they try to interfere with Oculus' work, shits going downhill.

That's a BIG if.  If facebook is smart theyd wait until they get a huge install base then start getting their grubby hands on it.
