Antimalware Service Executable - Resource Hog

N7 Cooke

Hey guys, have a weird issue which is starting to annoy me.

Every so often (I've noticed it's whenever I'm on Battlefield 3) this process will start up 'Antimalware Service Executable' which basically completely jacks my system and uses 99% of my 16gb RAM. I het about 1 FPhour and I just have to restart my computer.

Any suggestions what this could be?

I don't use 3rd party Antivirus, just the built in Microsoft firewall, Windows Defender etc. Running Windows 8.

Help?

Try this. Run > Msconfig > Services > disable the program > startup > disable the program.

If that doesn't work, in task manager, go to services, hit the "Services..." button, then find the one you need to stop in the standard tab, right click it > properties > select startup type, and from the drop down choose "Disabled"

This works on Win7, but should be the same idea on Win8
