Is this $200 GTX1080 worth it

My friend is upgrading his RX580 to a new graphics and I found this Zotac GTX 1080 for just $200. However, it does seem to be in a bit of a bad state. I've got a few photos below which show that the heatpipes and the backplate look kinda rough. The screws in the fans also look rusted and I can't tell whether it is gunk or oxidation in the heatsink fins. I do live in a humid country though so seeing this is not really that uncommon.

That looks like corrosion on the heat pipes and rad (some of the non-stainless steel screws appear to have corrosion as well). The heat pipes should all have a shiny copper look to them.

 

If I were to guess it was stored improperly in a basement or a garage. I wouldn't spend $1 on that card.

Most houses where I live don't have basements lol. Im guessing its just been left out in the open. The relative humidity here is around 70% so that might be the cause.

How far can you talk him down? Can you confirm it works in a benchmark/stress test (maybe not too heavy, don't want to kill it, I doubt that rust transfers a lot of heat)? Might be a fun weekend project to replace the cooler/water block it. For like 100USD if confirmed working, I'd hop on a 1080 board and sort the cooling myself.

Thats the furthest he will go. I found a cooler for the a Zotac GTX 1080 Ti Mini for sale as well but I'm not sure if it fits (this is a non ti). It still seems a bit risky to buy it though as I'm still uncertain whether it was left outdoors or anything

That doesn't make any sense. Humidity would have to be in excess of 80% to cause rust on most of those components. Being "in the open" also makes no sense, since it's not like computer cases are sealed in any way.

Well it appears to be 70% these week but it can reach around 90% on some days. By open I mean like by a window when it rains or something. Unlikely yes but people are stupid
