UOLTT: Operation Monarch (To Capture a <REDACTED>)

Absolutely correct. Its' just there's also instance population control. Most organizations which attempt to attack it without a plan will likely fail. So far we only know an average guestimate of 150 players per instance. That's 150 players vs an unknown amount of NPC ships and pilots. The KingShip alone is speculated to have 1400 NPCs alone on the ship. Meaning if we even board 75 pilots, we'll need to account for transport troop carriers and escort fighters. Because of the instance cap, it's pretty intense planning. There's a lot of ideas of how to take advantage of NPC AI and cap instance. You know, game breaking type methods. And those are what we're really banking on for ideas. But once a KingShip is confirmed, those of us working on the operation will be moving quickly to plan the attack. Likely give the fleet a weeks notice.

I'm just hoping THAT ship is available at SC Universe launch. Its' the biggest ship. Who knows if its even out 7 days a week.

OP Monarch could go on for ages. I say that it's vital to have a few people making sure that everything is going according to plan, if we could send more troops in, if people need to be evacuated, if there are Vanduul reinforcements arriving, etc...

Totally. The actual operation might take several hours. It'll take a few hours to prep, a few hours to actually carry it out. And who knows how many variables will come into play. All we can try to do is continue to evolve it and form as many contingency plans as possible. I have no doubt in my mind that the actual operation will differ greatly from what we're planning.

But in the long run OM in concept will likely be revisited until it's perfected. If it works well, OM will evolve into OM2 or some other name and be used to capture <REDACTED>. Though the final reports will be available to need to know members only. E.G. The main designers of OM, group leaders, council and High Council.

I hope it'll be at some time convenient for me, I'll be sure to have everything ready, and might even take a nap if it's late at night, so I'm at my best :P.

lol. I feel you. We'll work heavily on the details to plan it at an appropriate time that is accessible for the entire fleet. So of course a weekend more than likely. And with at least a weeks notice we should be able to schedule as many people on as possible.

I feel the key will be scouting and reconnaissance will be key, as the phrase goes 'Knowledge is Power'. Which also means swift and secure communications.

Quickly adapting the plan for the situation we find and organising a plan of action at the soonest possible time (weekend).

But until then instating a form of advanced party or just scouts to keep track of (patrol around) the KS or even to board and secure it until the main party arrives. As we will need as much information as possible before everyone arrives.

Exactly. And thank you for the comments. We're always looking for information, opinions, tactics and any help towards the goal from the fleet.

The two groups, which we elaborated in OM quite a bit on, but not so much in the <REDACTED> version for obvious reasons, were Recon and Scout. For the most part anyone in UOLTTC is a scout. If they can locate the topic ship, then we can have people regularly scout it with Recon Hornets or Tracking 315Ps. I don't want anyone to feel forced into having to continuously follow the topic ship when they are making transport runs, so the Recon and Hornet missions are actually going to be regularly for the week before the actual operation. And intermittent in the weeks before that. As you stated, "Knowledge is Power". Something history has proven time and time agian.

Most of the extreme intelligence gathering will be ran by SICC, a special operations militia inside of the UOLTTC that is trying to be organized when we start to really focus on the target. Though we'll also be outsourcing for as much help with this as well. It's not something a small group like SICC can likely manage alone. But mainly this is because SICC is creating the report. Final version will be given to group leaders, squadron leaders, HC and Council. Likely the day before the Operation, a quick read version will be given to the fleet. So we'll be sure to try and give as much information as possible. Before the game even launches we're planning on setting up designated groups so we know our roles prior.

And of course, as you stated, we must have contingency plans upon contingency plans. Things will change drastically as the battle will be very dynamic. We have to take all possible outcomes into the operation. Whether it's additional NPC enemies or even ambushes from player organizations. To even simple things as computer capabilities, player ship capabilities and player piloting capabilities. But, we're gonna wait until we have more concrete information on the target ship and after DFM of course.

Everything we're running with now is speculation on what has been given to us from Cloud Imperium and what our basic knowledge of video game experiences combined with actual military tactics can cover. The final report will be very different from this one. This is a draft report. It was made to be the first steps towards a final operation. The only reason we released it to the public so early was to create a buzzfeed for the fleet. Something we can start to collaborate on and let people know that there will be organized functions. The High Council gave us their full support in the operation, so having it become an official operation will do a lot for fleet morale.

But, yeah, I've rambled on. Thanks again for the ideas, Garlan. As always, keep em coming.

We should have people under orders to report a KS as soon as they see one. If the org is ready for the attack, the High Council is notified immediately if they give the green light then ships are scrambled to keep tabs on the ship, and the whole fleet is notified. I'll willingly track the ship, would find it fun. I'd probably rent my Freelancer, or whatever ship I have at the time out, and then get my hands on an org Tracker Hornet, or just rent one.

Yes, but I think there should be dedicated channels of communication through which things of this magnitude are to be reported. I'll probably do the same with my second ship, whatever it happens to be.

Yes, maybe we chould have some way of notifying outside of the game, like everyone should give their e-mail adress and we should make a mailing list. I'm not gonna be ingame 24-7.

I have no doubt HC will do good work in organizing this. I know how well organized and thought-out these guys are ;)

Actually a mailing list would not be a bad idea, it would allow people to get messages even when they haven't logged onto the forum and it is opt in so.

A mailing list would be good, but some people might not want us to be able to send them emails whenever we want. I mean, if they do find us annoying, they could always block us, but I really doubt that the HC will be spamming people's inboxes :P

The beauty is that it is opt in so only those prepared to receive emails from the HC or communications guys will get them, If I choose to not receive them you could unsubscribe, block or not sign up in the first place.

Ofc UOLTTC wouldn't spam anyone, and it would have an unsubscribe option, It would be used only in a case of mass mobilization and updates on planned purchases and such... Later we could make a kind of unofficial bulletin where players would be informed of plans and available ships, but that's a long shot.

I'd be the first to sign up on that.

Thanks, much appreciated. That's a most decisive point, as none of us really know really how the final game will work at the moment and as of yet I don't know much about how the LTTC will be organised/operate in a situation either, with respect to a command to pilot as well as between ship classes in the theatre of combat that is. (I must see if there is a thread on the subject.)

Whatever the final actionable plan is, I will assist the mission as much as work/life will allow.

unoffical linus tech tips conglomerate

The Conglomerate was at first Unofficial hence UO but is no longer unofficial however we cannot change the tag because that is what RSI has so well we are stuck with it until we can change it (maybe) but if you are like me I think it gives character to the org.

United Official Linus Tech Tips Conglomerate.

The United is because we weren't official at the stayr, so it was UnOfficial.

This sounds like a really dumb question, but is the "Imperium" Org made from Cloud Imperium Games?

Nope, imperium is actually a rather old gaming group, it's not just a Star Citizen org.

Welcome aboard! We're gonna need all the help we can get for this.

And as far as the council goes, I know ixi was stating that council members will likely be group leaders. Groups as in: Trade group, Salvage Group, Military Group, etc. And this is my speculation, but these positions will likely be voted in by the community as well as chosen by the HC. So the best way to get your foot in the door is to just get involved with the UOLTT community. The groups will not be started up for a while, though HC has stated that their ideas for the military will not be discussed until after the DFM at the very least. So look forward to that as well!

Hope this helps a little, Coder.
