Seasonic Focus and RTX 3080

Gigakv

I have the non plus focus 750 and I would rather not buy another psu if possible.

Is the ripple really out of spec and can it damage my components?

Does anyone have that combo running without issues?

I don't recall anyone ever saying the ripple is "out of spec".

Ripple isn't the issue.

Best to try it and see how it does.

If it shuts down then you know you need a new PSU.

I have seen some Focus PSUs working with the 3080, others no, not so much.

There was one Chinese review with OOS ripple at 130% overload IIRC. Not an issue in normal operation obviously. And even then it isn't clear if these results valid even.

Thanks for the replies!

So basically if it doesn't shut down I'm good to go, if it does shut down I'll try to contact seasonic, maybe they'll replace it with a working model since it's still under warranty.

Edit:

"New revisions (2018-2019) have a bigger headroom, but aren't built for it and start to ripple at the loads where the PSU would shut down at with the older revision"

I asked because this sounded like the level of ripple is bad.
