Can you throw a fx processor in am3 motherboard?

i have a fx 6350 processor and i wonder if i can throw it in a am3 motherboard, last update on it was 2011... the mobo is asus m4a77t. is it possible?

Most mobo OEMs keep motherboard spec sheets up for a while:

iknow but if you read about it gigabyte etc released that u can update so u can use it

Nope. That board has a 770 chipset and FX series chips require a 900 series chipset.

They are both motherboard companies, so if one of them released firmware updates then it's not impossible that another company did too. So if you don't know whether they did or not, you ask. It's a perfectly reasonable question.

Latest BIOS version to quote additional CPU compatability was including updates to allow for some Athlons, Semprons, and Phenoms, no FX. 

It is a reasonable question, but it very rapidly becomes a stupid question when someone already answered it.
