From a command line, can you ping 1.1.1.1, or 8.8.8.8 ? If "yes", that means Internet access is in fact working. Trying pinging www.google.com. If that fails, the issue is DNS related.

Also try pinging your default gateway (your router)

You deleted core windows files to "clean it up"? Really?

This isn't a DNS issue, this is the fact you likely deleted core windows files for networking. Your best bet is to repair the install using a windows installer downloaded from another device.

Did I miss something? He said "tidying up windows". For all I know, that could be just a simple Disk Cleanup job from the C drive properties general tab.

You are joking right? A disk cleanup doesn't leave you without network connectivity or ethernet drivers.....

In the original picture the Ethernet icon is gone, that means there are no drivers at a minimum.

I have no idea what he did. I'm assuming he didn't manually butcher the OS. But if that's the case, yeah, reinstall it.

From a command prompt, try this command

netsh int ip reset

Reboot the PC. If that still doesn't work, run the following command

 netsh winsock reset

Reboot and check again.

I got to hit the road. But if that doesn't work, I recommend a fresh install of Windows 10.

Honestly, that should be done with any new Motherboard. It's not "required", but highly recommended as there can be conflicts with chipset drivers. All sorts of strange things happen when you change HAL (hardware abstraction layers) such as a MB replacement.

Note: Backup your PC first. And depending on the Windows 10 license type, you may or may not be able to transfer it.

Is the network adapter disabled in device manager? Is it enabled in BIOS?

You might have to delete the network adapter in device manager first prior to running the Intel driver update.
