Speed up a 6th gen Intel ThinkPad

Recommended Posts

Posted · Original PosterOP

This laptop isn't my main machine, I do have a desktop that I built about 2 months ago as my main, but this is my only travel machine. Everything works great, but I notice that it does get sluggish with the i5-6200U and 4gb of ram. I'd like to speed up this system a bit and make it more suitable for general productivity and light usage. I am open to installing something like Pop!Os which I have tried and liked. However, I am much more farmiliar w/ the Windows ecosystem.

TIA for helping! Stay safe and healthy out there! ❤️

Does it have an SSD? If not, throw one of those in. More RAM. Other than that here isn't a whole lot you can do. I wouldn't bother installing a different OS just for the sake of slightly snappier response.

download quick cpu

read that as "quickly download a cpu" like the whole "Download EXTRA RAM NOW"

Anything i've written between the * and * is not meant to be taken seriously.

keep in mind that helping with problems is hard if you aren't specific and detailed.

i'm also not a professional, (yet) so make sure to personally verify important information as i could be wrong.

It has an ssd, I might be able to pick up an 8gb ram kit because I'd like to get entirely new modules :3
