What Are Your Expectations For Zen 3 Availability?

AMD's first 5000 series Zen3-based APU has been spotted in AOTS benchmark, Ryzen 7 5700U 8C/16T processor | News Break

 

As I recall, the 3900X in particular was out of stock for months after launch, with prices on eBay hitting well above MSRP. The 3800X was in short supply as well.

 

For those that are planning to upgrade to Zen 3, what are your expectations for availability given that supply chains are not at 100% right now, and demand will likely be higher?

Bro, who knows at this point. I generally like to wait a lil bit myself due to hiccups like current 3080 issues.

Expect the worst, hope for the best. The demand is probably higher than the supply for couple of months.

Paper launch, won't see the chips in the wild until 2021 (jk, more demand than supply, 4600 may actually be accessible, everything above it probably not so much)

Expect bots to buy all of them.

Expect to need a bot if you want a chance of getting one at launch. 

Expect them to beat intel at price/perfomance as usual. 

 

I'm honestly hoping AMD gets close enough in IPC that I can justify the switch...

CPUs don't really get the same hype as GPUs, AFAIK.  It'll still go out of stock to be sure, but I doubt you'll see bots buying them up and reposting them to eBay.

Been waiting to upgrade myself, but I don't know if I can justify it right now. Like my justification was that I could move my i7 to my plex server, but I just don't use my pc enough.
