Any advice?

litttrash

Ok I'm not In a rush to get a pc. My main purpose is to play video games with my friends. I would like to stream/record and other basic content creation stuff. Currently i just have some old laptop which cant even run my online classes with my home work open I'm currently saving up money and my budget is about 800 dollars. I planned to keep saving and get the 3070 around this time NEXT year. Im OK with buying used parts I just don't want any really old parts since I want them to last. What do you think i should do,  wait and save up, buy an used 2070 or something ( not sure how much i should spend on those), or do you have any other ideas.

Do you want anything specific? Like a smaller form factor or something?

Edit: Also we need to take shipping prices into consideration

Not really i was actually not looking for a small factor. I've made pc partpicker lists with the 3070 that came up to about 1100-1200 with a r7 2700x (open box for 200). my plan was a white case but not really mandatory just that my wall is light blue so black wouldht go well

now is a suboptimal time to be buying new as new stuff for basically everything is coming out, and stock is low on last gen hardware. not the worst though, ill toss a build together in pcpp for ya

topics i need help on:

Spoiler

my "oops i bought intel right before zen 3 releases" build

CPU: Ryzen 5 3600 (placeholder)

GPU: Gigabyte 980ti Xtreme (also placeholder), deshroud w/ generic 1200rpm 120mm fans x2, stock bios 130% power, no voltage offset: +70 core +400 mem

Memory: 2x16gb GSkill Trident Z RGB 3600C16, 14-15-30-288@1.45v

Motherboard: Asus ROG Strix X570-E Gaming

Cooler: Noctua NH-D15S w/ white chromax bling
OS Drive: Samsung PM981 1tb (OEM 970 Evo)

Storage Drive: XPG SX8200 Pro 2tb

Backup Storage: Seagate Barracuda Compute 4TB

PSU: Seasonic Prime Ultra Titanium 750W w/ black/white Cablemod extensions
Case: Fractal Design Meshify C Dark (to be replaced with a good case shortly)

basically everything was bought used off of reddit or here, only new component was the case. absolutely nutty deals for some of these parts, ill have to tally it all up once it's "done" :D

I don't think you can fit a 2070 build that won't bottleneck the gpu under 800$. At least I can't

Also I assumed you are going 4K because of the 2070. Am I correct?

1440p 144hz (Just realized If i go for a 2070 it will be 1080 p 144hz) if i wait and get a 3070 later it will be 1440 p or 4k in the future

a decently priced build that would allow for good upgradability in the future:

if you were to buy used, id buy like this (prices based on what i see on various online marketplaces, shipping included):

r5 3600 for ~150

b450/b550: 100-120

2070 super for 350-400, or get a placeholder card and wait for 3070

buy case new or find a local deal on one, they cost a shit ton to ship. mesh fronted cases preferable, ~50-100

buy psu, ram, and ssd new unless youre comfortable with buying them used, ~200

thatd be roughly the same price as above, plus no taxes. you could go ahead and get everything except a card, and pick up a 1660 super/1070 or something for under 200 to use while you wait on a 3070
