RTX 3090 Bottleneck

What's the lowest possible cpu that wouldn't bottleneck a RTX 3090? I wanted to see if I could put one in my potential build but I need to know if I'd need to sacrifice a kidney for a cpu.

All current CPUs bottleneck it at any resolution other than 4K.

That may change once the new games come out...

i9 9900K @ 5.0 GHz, NH D15, 32 GB DDR4 3200 GSKILL Trident Z RGB, AORUS Z390 MASTER, EVGA RTX 3080 FTW3 Ultra, Samsung 970 EVO Plus 500GB, Samsung 860 EVO 1TB, Samsung 860 EVO 500GB, ASUS ROG Swift PG279Q 27", Steel Series APEX PRO, Logitech Gaming Pro Mouse, CM Master Case 5, Corsair AXI 1600W Titanium.

i7 8086K, AORUS Z370 Gaming 5, 16GB GSKILL RJV DDR4 3200, EVGA 2080TI FTW3 Ultra, Samsung 970 EVO 250GB, (2)SAMSUNG 860 EVO 500 GB, Acer Predator XB1 XB271HU, Corsair HXI 850W.

i7 8700K, AORUS Z370 Ultra Gaming, 16GB DDR4 3000, EVGA 1080Ti FTW3 Ultra, Samsung 960 EVO 250GB, Corsair HX 850W.

budget oriented CPUs that are reasonable for a 3090:

Ryzen 5 3600

Ryzen 7 3700X

Core i5 10600K

to name a few, but it also depends on what games and performance target you're after. If you want some 1080p 240Hz gaming, the 3600 might not be able to keep up.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 10 and Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

How many watts do I needATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

USAGE CASE?

RES? SETTINGS?

Lower settings for Multiplayer FPS?

Need some basics.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

no, the kidney is for that gpu. a decent cpu would be the ryzen 9 4950x or the core i9 11900k. or, honestly a 5950x or a 12900k.

I could use some help with this!

please, pm me if you would like to contribute to my gpu bios database (includes overclocking bios, stock bios, and upgrades to gpus via modding)

My beautiful, but not that powerful, main PC:

Nothing keeps up at 1080p with a 3090. A 3080 will most likely be bottlenecked.

You are aware that this is a nonsensical question, right? If you're willing to shell out 1499 on a GPU, just buy the best CPU you can get and be done with it. In every other build a 3090 is a severe mismatch.

they all bottleneck, even at 4k, buy the fastest cpu available.
