How the f*ck do I install the damn ATI display driver?

After DDUing the origonal driver/software on my laptop, the damn driver wouldn't reinstall with the catalyst control pannel. I am stuck with the MS Radeon HD 3200 mobility driver. I can't see it in msiab. WTF is wrong? Do I need to try a 3rd party driver?

Which one of these drivers did you download, and what OS are you running on the system?

Sorry for the long wait, but it's windows 7 64bit, and I was installing the catalyst software suite 13.9. it says the driver it there, but I'm still using the MS one.

Would you mind running GPU-Z for me, and see if the reported GPU is the one that's actually in there? Also, what laptop is this in?

It's a Acer aspire 5532, and it is. It is not reporting the frequency, however.

Then it's possible there is a hardware malfunction.

 

You might want to try installing the really old driver from the manufacturer, (they do still have the download on their site) then updating it directly to the newest driver.
