Why are older GPU's like 2070 and 2080 still at an all time high even though the 3080 and 3090 are out?

They always do. Why would stores that bought the cards for a certain price sell them for lower than that price. They basically hope that people are impatient, don't know,... or whatever and get the older cards till stock runs out. Only when a looong time (years) have passed may they decide to get rid of those cards at a loss.
