........the inevitable launch of obnoxious and tacky RDNA2 GPUs from XFX for cheap $$$$?

 

Seriously, nobody seems to like these and I always have gotten great deals on them.

 

What do you think they'll name them this time?

They already have marked off the list:

 

XXX Edition
FAT BOY

THICC II/III

RAW II

Triple D

 

What incredibly offensive names will they go after this time?

Some of them kinda suck, like the thicc cards. Reviewers showed that they basically ran dangerously hot GDDR6 temps all the time

 

The raw II was a gem though, my roommate is rocking a 5600XT that I snagged for $185

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

wait why do we hate xfx, aside from a few just straight up sucking and some questionable naming they have some nice designs that arent plagued by rgb. the triple dissipation and thicc models are pretty high up there for me, looks-wise. i definitely heard about the most issues from xfx cards but idk lol. the black and silver color scheme is way better than the "you get an rgb, you get an rgb, everyone gets rgb!" designs that are common these days

basically everything was bought used off of reddit or here, only new component was the case. absolutely nutty deals for some of these parts, ill have to tally it all up once it's "done" :D

People don't hate them there are just a lot of NVIDIA fan boys lol. I had a XFX 270X that mined for 2 years straight lol

The raw II was a gem though, my roommate is rocking a 5600XT that I snagged for $185

Using my 5700 XT RAW II that I got last Christmas for $369. A little fan adjustment and it's running great. Most of the time hotspot under 90, memory under 80.

Huh. My card is a rx480, XFX reference design. By "XFX refeence, I mean they took a AMD card, and swapped the fans. Not the fan has a XFX logo.

I think they've been managing pretty well. 5000 series shook up the mid-range quite well. Admittedly their low end 5000 series sucked, but Nvidia didn't really do too well either there with the 1650/Super.

 

Hoping for a solid performer that will be somewhere in between the 3070 and 3080 for less money.

galax with all their gAmEr branding is kinda weird but they generally make decent looking cards, plus they always have white and pink cards which are rare for whatever reason. dont they usually have really good binned chips too?

~10 years ago XFX was a Nvidia board partner as well. Don’t know why the arrangement ended but in an alternate reality we could have had some hilarious XFX 3090 AIBs.

Teir  "Hall of fame " have usually the netter chips

their normal 20-series cards actually the A-dies ( netter than B dies (Nvidia had this naming scheme only in the early phase and quietly killed it with the Super refresh ) ) and were still cheaper than other cards with B dies
