3090 Launch Date

TheJuanEstevez

I want to purchase a 3090 on launch date this week. What is the best way to make sure I get one? I put down my email on NVidia's website to notify me but does anyone know what time sales go live?

Also would it be recommended to purchase a Founders Edition card or third party?

I live in Calgary so lining up at a Micro Center isn't an option for me lol

You can also wait in line in front of Memory Express. They might get a couple. I'd call ahead to see if it's worth it though.

There isn't a Microcenter, but there is a Memory Express. I'm not sure if they will have any in store on release, but they'll likely do orders in person like they did for the 3080 launch day.

edit: tho... they won't be FE, only AIB partner cards

So if I am able to get a founders card on Nvidia's website should I pick that over a third party card? I know in the past third party cards were preferred over founders card. Is that the same thing here?

We don't know yet. Embargo isn't up on 3090 reviews (to my knowledge). So we haven't had any reviewers post any of the results and comparisons... there have been some like leaked benchmarks, but I don't know if there has been any with FE vs AIB. So yah, can either wait till reviews are out, or just yolo.

Nobody knows until independent reviews are out but the 3080 FE cards are having memory cooling issues, that doesn’t mean the 3090 FE will, but that said you don’t know how good the AIB options will be either. Buying day one is always a minefield and you’ll probably just have to settle for whatever you can find in stock, if you can even beat the bots, who are still cleaning up 3080s.

Current build: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X, ASUS PRIME X570-Pro, EVGA RTX 3080 XC3 Ultra, G.Skill 2x16GB 3600C16 DDR4, Samsung 980 Pro 1TB, Sabrent Rocket 1TB, Corsair RM750x, Scythe Mugen 5 Rev. B, Phanteks Enthoo Pro M, LG 27GL83A-B

Seeing as release date for the FE is the 24th, I expect embargo to be removed for FE cards to be lifted tomorrow, so you can see the review then, and the AIB cards to be released on release day.

That's assuming the Embargo schedule is the same from the 3090 and 3080 schedule.
