Sits with GH4-EBK with 29min59sec recording in 8-bit 4096x2160. I'd love to own an URSA and the BMPCC. I wonder when we'll start seeing videos about these cameras.

nope a 8 core and a midrange GPU should work fine to edit it. given they demoed editing on a 2019 MBP

You need a Threadripper nice processor first and foremost.

What I think people fail to understand is that with 12k footage you don't necessarily render it in full resolution, but you can crop and compose your shot however you like, it's an order of magnitude more area than 1080p meaning you can stabilise your footage and do pan and zoom effects without actually moving the camera around.

put a 1tb sd card/ssd in there and you might get an entire 2 minutes of record time!

its blackmagic raw so you'll get a decent amount of time.

Anyone else more interested in 4k 120 & 240? 🙃

by far the 4k 240 is what is most interesting. I can get 2k 240 out of an FS700R but other than a phanton I don't know of any 4k+ high framerate cameras that get above 120

You and most everyone else. However, the purpose of 12K, or 4K 240FPS, cameras is not producing 12K content to watch in your non-existent 12K 120Hz TV, but to help in the production of the 1080p, maybe 4K 30Hz content people will actually watch (think of slow motion takes, zooming to details, etc).

No, and that's fair, content production and ingest are only going to continue for decades to come, I feel like production quality is outpacing ingest tho.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

I think it is Awesome:

I really agree with learn color grading and film simplified's post. That this is firstly not just a huge statement but it is a huge publicity stunt just drawing a line in the sand  , "that black magic raw 12k r is Editable on Da Vinci Resolve on an laptop using an optimised timeline without the need for proxies". They give away sample Vidoes to prove it. And if it can do that then 4k will be simple to edit.

I believe Linus tech tips have been using the blackmagic pocket 4k for sometime. Using the Blackmagic raw plugin. So this would not be a big change to thier current workflow and would take away some of the hassles they have been having with red workflow. However they mostly transcode thier footage to cineform I stand corrected?

The problem is simply this how footage gets transcoded what hardware is needed for 12 workflow Especially Premier Pro.  What puzzles me more in virtually every review I have seen so far there has been subtle Apple product placement, will arm support resolve? And will Apple side with Nvidea.

Regardless it seems like a cool camera, a 12k punch in must be cool for a live stream and if the camera sucks Linus will just sell the cameras his a smart businessman

Will be great to see the review

pocket 4k or 6kis rarely used by them mostly used during the motion tracking shocks showing the blur busters and VR gaming other than that we don't know. the have 2-3 8K reds for A cams. 3 C200 for B cams. C200 shoot Techlinked and most of short circuit

Linus likes his toys.  I suspect they might have all that.  Not because it’s a good idea, but just because.  I don’t even know why they shoot and edit in 8k for YouTube.
