Max Memory Voltage

Hello everyone,

I have one quick question.

I have order this RAM: https://assets.website-files.com/5cdb2ee0b102f96c3906500f/5ed95dab4ab04f0d10168d75_PVB432G360C8K Sku Sheet_ 060320 Copyable.pdf

This is my MoBo: https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/ROG-STRIX-Z370-G-GAMING/

I am planning on overclocking so what max voltage do you recommend for this RAM?

Thank you in advance.

1.5v for daily, 1.6v if it’s BDie.

For some benching as long as you have proper cooling anything to about 2/2.5v is fine. @ShrimpBrime can go more in depth on competitive memory overclocking.

Hey thanks Gloop.

This kit is low end at this timing set

18-22-22-42 are horrible timings.

I'd be surprised if this kit will do it's rated frequency on a Gen 1 board and assuming Gen 1 Zen processor.

extra voltage probably won't help the situation....

Lol, I just noticed that. thank you.

StriX-Z370 actually, not 390....

Still doesn't make the kit of memory better.

He'll have the advantage of a decent memory controller.

B-Die would be the way to go, but for overclocking rather a 16GB kit over a 32GB kit.

3600mhz cl17 are probably not B-Die.

4000mhz CL19 might be b-die, however I'm not certain atm. I'd have to look them up, but on mobile right now.

Here are the end results:

PATRIOT 32GB Viper 4 Blackout DDR4 3600MHz CL18 KIT PVB432G360C8K is absolutely horrible. Increasing the voltages couldn't help lower the timings below 18-20-20-40. My HyperX Predator 2x4GB 3000 MHz 15-15-15-30 scored 6% better FPS in all games tested.

So you were right and I am immediately selling this kit.

I've bought today locally XPG Spectrix D41 RGB 16GB Kit (2 x 8GB) 3600MHz 17-18-18 by default for 94 EUR. Best I could get from it is 15-15-15-30-330 1.45V. Quite refreshing going back to b die. It gives the same performance as already mentioned HyperX, so seems like my games don't care about additional 8GB or 600MHz.

I will stick with this XPG RAM for now.

Thanks for the help. :)

Haha, yeah. B-Die is nice to clock with. Glad your rockin again! :)
