Max Memory Voltage

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

I have one quick question.

I have order this RAM: https://assets.website-files.com/5cdb2ee0b102f96c3906500f/5ed95dab4ab04f0d10168d75_PVB432G360C8K Sku Sheet_ 060320 Copyable.pdf

This is my MoBo: https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/ROG-STRIX-Z370-G-GAMING/

I am planning on overclocking so what max voltage do you recommend for this RAM?

Thank you in advance.

Hey thanks Gloop.

This kit is low end at this timing set

18-22-22-42 are horrible timings.

I'd be surprised if this kit will do it's rated frequency on a Gen 1 board and assuming Gen 1 Zen processor.

extra voltage probably won't help the situation....

- If it ain't broken, don't fix it!

He uses Intel Z370 board.

Lol, I just noticed that. thank you.

StriX-Z370 actually, not 390....

Still doesn't make the kit of memory better.

He'll have the advantage of a decent memory controller.

B-Die would be the way to go, but for overclocking rather a 16GB kit over a 32GB kit.

@ShrimpBrime @Deli @gloop

Thank you everyone for the information. I am MS1993 writing from another account, because I could not log into my MS1993 account because log in via Facebook is no longer available and that was the only way I ever logged in. If some of you know how to fix this problem, please let me know because the support takes 1 week to respond...

Now regarding the RAM.

I'm not planning to do record breaking OC that has negligible difference in basically everything compared to decent timings, I just wanna do a quick free OC that I can use for years to come and never change.

I chose Patriot Viper, because that is definitely one of the, if not the best, price to performance RAMs out there. Really don't see a point paying 50%+ more for little better stock timings that, I repeat again, have negligible difference in basically everything.

Here are some of the options I did consider:

https://iponcomp.com/shop/termek/patriot-32gb-viper-4-blackout-ddr4-3600mhz-cl18-kit-pvb432g360c8k/1859732 - This is the one I bought. Not great timings at all like Shrimp said, but with 1.45 to 1.5v I bet I can make them decent. This one is 129 EUR.

https://iponcomp.com/shop/termek/patriot-16gb-viper-4-blackout-ddr4-3600mhz-cl17-kit-pvb416g360c7k/1773443 - These are probably b die and cheap as hell, 83 EUR. Could easily get all 16 timings with 1.35v. But at the end I thought better pay 55% more for 100% more GB and little worse timings.

https://iponcomp.com/shop/termek/patriot-16gb-blackout-ddr4-4000mhz-cl19-kit-pvb416g400c9k/1779258 - These are absolute beasts at only 117 EUR, but again I
for 10% more I better get 100% more GB than godly timings.

What do you guys think? Does my thinking needs any correction? :)

Thanks in advance!

3600mhz cl17 are probably not B-Die.

4000mhz CL19 might be b-die, however I'm not certain atm. I'd have to look them up, but on mobile right now.

Yea 4k are 100%, and 3.6k are too based to reviews online. I had HyperX predator RGB 3.6k cl17 and they also were b die.

But doesn't matter anyway. 😁

I will post results of 32GB during the weekend.

Here are the end results:

PATRIOT 32GB Viper 4 Blackout DDR4 3600MHz CL18 KIT PVB432G360C8K is absolutely horrible. Increasing the voltages couldn't help lower the timings below 18-20-20-40. My HyperX Predator 2x4GB 3000 MHz 15-15-15-30 scored 6% better FPS in all games tested.

So you were right and I am immediately selling this kit.

I've bought today locally XPG Spectrix D41 RGB 16GB Kit (2 x 8GB) 3600MHz 17-18-18 by default for 94 EUR. Best I could get from it is 15-15-15-30-330 1.45V. Quite refreshing going back to b die. It gives the same performance as already mentioned HyperX, so seems like my games don't care about additional 8GB or 600MHz.

I will stick with this XPG RAM for now.

Thanks for the help. :)
