it's not a requirement, but put it this way, all of the previous winners did. the video just needs to be creative

with that said; if your name is accurate and you are from India, you can't enter anyway.

I’m living in North America currently so I guess it would be ideal to show my face

The only thing about sending heavy shit overseas that's more fun than shipping costs is customs duties.

To the people who complained about the regional restrictions, did you stop to think about how Asus is behind this entire giveaway to begin with?

2 major things to consider:

1. Current global events.

2. The rules need to satisfy the sponsors.

Hi Linus,

I am Jatin from India i want to ask you why the ROG Rig Reboot is happening in India

ASUS are the ones that likely decided it....you know based on the current state of the world.

Judge the product by it's own merits, not by the Company that created it.

and none of them has considered the logistics that goes into conducting a physical giveaway remotely during a pandemic

just because international shipping services exist does not make it a be-all factor on scope. there's still candidate validation, working with the sponsor on an appropriate prize pool relative to the winner's locale, and literally addressing laws to define the nature of this giveaway in each and every region on earth (is it charity? is it fair advertisement? is it contract work? is it gambling?)

they've done global (minus a few) entry last year, only because it was a much much better time of conducting an event of this scale. with the way things are right now, candidate validation is a bigger issue, and going from other giveaways (e.g. those from jayztwocents in the past) the winners usually never return the social favour by letting twitter or even the organisers know about how their prize has been doing. sure, ghosting an RRR prize would just mean the winner would be forfeiting their system in this case, but think of the staff who would be waiting on the line while doing nothing productive, or more likely spending more time getting in touch with a new winner

i'd say LMG is already extremely brave in these circumstances. those who want this open to more areas just want the PC for themselves

Not gonna happen, if they could have made it open to other countries they would have. Consider the fact that they would be facing a huge liability if they flew a possible Covid case [or carrier] into Canada... Just think about it.

N America is the only logical and possible way to make this happen, why do you think they waited so long until announcing this? I am positive they considered all possibilities before releasing the news.

*edit to include:

This decision is the best they could come up with, with current state of affairs there is no other way this could happen. The current situation is not in anyway under LMG's control.

Hey at least it wasn't canceled indefinitely  ... as that was a very real possibility.

Ok, quick reminder of the rules:

  • US and CANADA only.
  • Must be 13+ to enter

If you are complaining about it not being in x country, stop for a minute. Think about how hard it is to organize an event like this in a normal world, let alone a global pandemic. They are giving you are free PC. The entitlement of some people are insane.

I think reading comprehension should be mandatory entry requirement for any upcoming giveaways. If we need to spell out not just rules, but whole point.

Also reminder to all that even last year with event accepting global entries, there were certain countries excluded:

Quote

Countries Excluded: Taiwan, South Korea, Portugal, Italy, Austria, China, Russia, Hong Kong, Greece, France, Japan, Spain, Czech Republic

This was most likely due import restrictions and local raffle legislation.

This year, I think general logistics is main issue. As they can't fly someone over (hence local winner) and they would need to have local contact to help organize filming of the build. Sure they could add countries where that might be possible. But would yours be one of those? Likely not.

Most likely it's just the American branch of ASUS running the show and they simply only want to supply in their market regardless of shipping or COVID.
