Laggy PC with strong components

Kijlok25

Hey Guys, A few weeks ago I upgraded my Gaming PC.
From Ryzen 7 1700 to ryzen 5 3600

from GTX 1050 TI to RTX 2070 SUPER OC
and for some reason I am still lagging on 1080p games.

in this point I expected to run everything 1080p 60fps

but no. I have lag spikes

and it annoys the fuck out of me.

and It happens almost in every game

RAM:Corsair Vengeance 2400mhz 2 sticks 16gb(OC to 3200MHZ VIA BIOS)

CPU:Ryzen 5 3600 3.6(OC to 4.2 VIA BIOS AND RYZEN MASTER)

GPU: RTX 2070 SUPER OC 8GB

I will upload the overclock pictures

Hope you can guys help me

From what I heard maybe my RAM is too slow for this CPU? and it can cause performance loss?

I actually don't know

I don't really know in these kind of stuff

so I hope you can help me understand why with this strong PC i am still lagging on 1080p games

ram in slots 2 and 4? bios up to date?

ryzen can run with an undervolt and seems stable, but it actually gets lag spikes. I suspect your cpu voltage is too low for the frequency you've applied.

try to leave your cpu on auto, maybe just enable pbo and see if that makes it better.

you ram timings are pretty bad as well and might contribute to this

not to the extent you described no, it wont cause stutter, just lower fps

did you check stability of your OCs? intelburntest for CPU, memtest 86 for RAM

-sigh- feeling like I'm being too negative lately

I have actually no idea how and what is PBO

My BIOS is up to date

And if my CPS is not getting enough Voltage wouldn't it just give me a blue screen. When I run Aida64 Exstreme stabilty check everything works fine. But I have no idea what can cause the issue. I have money for a faster RAM

Because there is no componenet left besides the RAM that can cause performance loss. I upgraded my CPU and GPU

I ran a stability check for a few hours. aida64 exstreme. CPU temps peaked 88-91C

Can the MEMORY be too slow for the CPU?

because as I know in Ryzen CPU's RAM can really effect perfromance if not stable/slow

precision boost overdrive. it's the auto-overclock feature of ryzen cpus. it's recommended and usually gives better performance in gaming than a fixed all core overclock.

that's what I was saying, there are reports that instead of crashing/giving a blue screen because of low voltages, it just keeps working, but with lag spikes and bad performance.

also, have you been monitoring temperatures?

Yes I have. With exstreme bechmarks/stress tests. My GPU is stable and cpu peaked from 88-91

It didn't get to 95 so its ok I guess

How do I enable PBO and what speed will I get out of my CPU

3600, 1.15v 90c? something is wrong with your cooler

not an issue, unless it's not stable

test RAM stability with memtest86

and im thinking potentially underclocking due to heat

No. My CPU is OC to 4200 its not on its base. And it is on 1.15V maybe undervoltage?

exactly, it's undervolted yet running at 90c

what cooler do you have? it shouldnt run nearly as hot even on stock cooler at stock voltage

it will be somewhere in bios in advanced options. you'll have to first set cpu voltages and clocks to auto.

it will have a variable speed per core, depending on the demand.

it should help with temperatures as well. 91c on ryzen 5 is a bit high.

something is wrong, is the fan spinning?

did you screw it down enough?

Yes I did screw it down enough.

And it is spinning but the fan is set to the up direction because it can be lined or to the GPu side(down) or my other PC fans(up)

and something else I forgot to mention, when playing games. VR games especially. I hear a long beeping sound from my PC from what i read its a memory error

it is continuously beeping

until you feel a stop? was there thermal paste? (though this is worse than no paste)

doesnt matter as much as long as they're spinning, but the temps are super high

open up your side panel while the PC is running, see if temps drops drastically

If i try to touch the cooler. I can wiggle it.

wiggle is fine for some coolers, but the downward pressure is important

at least this is more reasonable, still high though, what casing is that?

the airflow seems bad

I dont remember.  And also. I openned up BIOS rn and my cpu is getting 1.296 -1.3V and its on 41C .

Memory on 3200Mhz and getting

1.368 A/B volts

What is XMP and should I enable it?

My cpu clock control is set to auto

Memory Timing mode is set to normal.

My voltage settings: Dynamic VCore +0.186

Dynamic VCore SOC(DVID) is +0.186V

And my Dram Voltage A/B CH is set to 1.350V

yea you should enable XMP

did you tweak anything else in the bios? maybe reset it to default before applying XMP, then apply XMP
