DO I REALLY NEED A RTX 3080 ?

Recommended Posts

Posted · Original PosterOP

Hey fellow tech friends.
I currently have a strix rtx 2080 super oc for gaming.
Just wondering if it's even worth it to upgrade to a RTX 3080 right now
I know that not many games at the moment even require that BEEFY of a card.
Maybe waiting for the RTX 4080 in 2 years is the way to go ?

Likely not...

Wait for the AIB cards to come out and get tested then see, they should be better than the FE cards.

Agreed with the above.

However, If you're happy with what you have, you do not "need" to upgrade. The itch may be strong though, I know mine is

Increasing internal rendering means its no longer 1080p.

But yes, that also an option, somthing i;ve recommendedi n other threads. I personaly use DSR to render at 4k in games that dont have a built in render scaler.

4k on a 1080p display as big as mine  (42") makes a big difference.
