New gen cards and affect on Crypto

Title says it, what effect will the new generation of desktop gaming cards have on the profitability of current and last gen cards?

 

I was folding at home for a few months but my case has poor airflow and it wasn't worth the wear on my new components so I stopped.  Now I'm thinking of taking one of my old computers and throwing 3 gpu's in it to mine 24/7 but I want a cost recovery less than 6 months.  I would imagine that with an uptick in available gpu power from the new cards the older cards are going to take up less of the available payouts.

Allegedly hashrates are quadruple as good on ampere as turing. Saw a post that said miners were boarding early shipments but it felt pretty rumor-y to me. We will see as cards release what the miners think of these products.

There is no return on investment with mining unless you're stealing electricity. These cards may be more powerful, but that performance isn't free. They draw huge amounts more power than current gen cards, which means the ROI is even less.

I did it with solar panels i had hooked up during the boom and made 2k

Keyword: "during the boom". What'd get up to? Like $20K per unit? $2K doesn't scale well with currency rates now.
