Apple September event

No new iPhone which is odd. Oxygen reader in the watch is cool and the new iPad air seems a worthy update. Wondering if there's an event in October for the phone and possibly an Apple silicon Mac? Anyone else have thoughts?

All new mobile OS releases tomorrow! Woo!  I am looking forward to positional audio with Airpods Pro. Time to rewatch some stuff on Apple TV on my iPad Pro.

Most People. already have a  smart TV with integrated Chrome Stick 

 

and Apple knows that so they don’t put that much work into Apple TV

Going to be a few years more before we update our watches, going strong after 3. For the cost I was expecting a 5-7 year lifespan.

I got a 3 this year to try it, didn’t do anything for me so I sold it

I don't use an Apple Watch, considered it a few times but I have a Rolex and it's really hard to downgrade, but I do see the use of a smartwatch.

I'd expect my replacement cycle to be probably annual (realistically I'll have to replace it immediately because I'll go scuba diving and forget I'm wearing it) given how cheap it is and how hard I am on devices. I get a year out of a phone (though I hate switching phone models, I had 3 years of iPhone 7 before I got the XS Max) and I'm getting *terrible* reliability out of my iPad Pro 11". I bought it in August last year and it is barely usable now, so I'm going to likely grab the new iPad Air because the iPad Pro was super expensive for how long it lasted. I had an iPad 4 for something like 5 years before that.

Not really a downgrade, they do different things. An apple watch is a watch but is primarily a fitness tracker and an extension of your phone, a Rolex is an overpriced wristwatch.

The Apple Watch feels extremely light and flimsy in comparison though and is nowhere near as good to look at (last time I used an Apple Watch, it was unusable as a watch because the screen was always off unless you raised it in the right way).

It's not flimsy and it's supposed to be light due to it being  fitness/health orientated. They've been always on the last 2 gens.

 

Personally I find Rolex watches tacky.

That's good for you, but an Apple watch has to be super convincing for me to ditch a family heirloom. And I'm not sure it's there yet, but I'll get one to try for a week or two. I am 100% sure I'll break one within a few months though.

I tried it for 6 months and didn't get along with it, don't need it to monitor activity and was more or less a distraction, O2 monitor seems cool but not £400 cool.

That's a launch delay they're still launching one this year so it will be finalised by now and in production. Was expecting a later launch but it's weird it wasn't announced here.
