Nvidia Reverses Aussie Founders Edition Decision

Summary

Over the last week or so, it had come out that Nvidia would not be supplying Australian distributors with Founders Editions - and wouldn't be selling them directly themselves. 
However, as of today, they've announced that they will be selling Founders Editions through Mwave, one of the more popular Aussie online stores, exclusively. This comes after considerable whinging from Australian consumers looking to purchase 30 series cards in Nvidia's fancy new style.

My thoughts

This is great news for those of us Aussies who are liable to throw waterblocks on our cards, given the supposed binning practices and price tags attached to the Founders Editions vs AIB SKUs. 
On a personal note, I'm rather enamored with the design of the Founders 3080 and 3090 and will likely stick with it stock until I feel like I can comfortably risk installing a waterblock.

Probably taxes and shipping.

 

Most GPUs in Australia and NZ are more expensive than American pricing.

 

Edit: Oh wait. Also probably includes import tariffs.

The $699 is mostly ~800€ from the early prices set with most sellers in EU. So, it's gonna cost me about the same as GTX 1080Ti has back in its day, 3 years ago. 1139 AUD for RTX 3080 is 700€. That's cheaper, especially if it's FE. Those were stupid expensive over here.

jokes aside, if you think that's bad, you should check the prices of Graphics card in India as Indian Govt considers them luxury items and adds 20% tax Customs

• Zotac asking for U$D +411 (+59%) extra!

that's great news, i hope they put a limit on items per customer, or else someone's just going to buy them all and jack up the prices.

 

it's still going to happen anyway, but i'd at least like an attempt at buying one.

 

it seems Nvidia delayed the embargo on performance reviews until after it hits online order. and by the time the reviews come out it's probably going to be out of stock everywhere...

Minimum wage :

19.84 AUD per hour in Australia
7.25 USD per hour in USA

Australia :

1139 AUD / 19.84 = 57.41 hours of work
2429 AUD / 19.84 = 122.43 hours of work

USA :

699 USD / 7.25 = 96.41 hours of work
1499 USD / 7.25 = 206.76 hours of work

 

 

It means RTX 3000 series in USA are "more expensives" than RTX 3000 series in Australia...

I mean Australia generally has stuff more expensive but you also have to factor in tax in the US vs other countries that have tax included in the retail price.
