It is possible this game does better with more cores despite it not fully utilizing them (some games do that), given that the 8700K was able to max out the GTX 1080 but the 6700 was not, though I've also found benchmark graphs showing 4C/8T doing almost as well as 6C/12T, which the 6700 also does not run as fast as a 6700K or an 8700K.

i guess its just the game utilization and the CPU bottleneck?

im planning to get a ryzen 7 before the year end any thoughts?

Hi, i have a problem with CoD:Warzone, i cant seem to get 100+ fps on my rig
Rig:
i7 6700
Gigabyte Z170MX Gaming 5
MSI RTX 2060 super ventus OC
16gb ram
1tb WD black
Corsair RM650i

ive done literally every settings possible, with low settings 1080p i can only get 70-80 fps
and its weird that even with a 720p on low i can only get 90 max

tried to turning on/off game mode on windows, changed priority on task manager to high(vice versa) still with the same FPS(80-90)
can anyone help me?

Edit: is it really not possible to get 100+ fps on this rig? it feels sluggish for me when im playing on 144hz monitor

might be cpu? that cpu is (if I am not mistaken) 3 gens behind. Try applying a overclock and measuring your thermals.

PC specs:

Ryzen 9 3900X overclocked to 4.3-4.4 GHz

Corsair H100i platinum

32 GB Trident Z RGB 3200 MHz 14-14-14-34

RTX 2060

MSI MPG X570 Gaming Edge wifi

NZXT H510

Samsung 860 EVO 500GB

2 TB WD hard drive

Corsair RM 750 Watt

ASUS ROG PG248Q

Razer Ornata Chroma

Razer Firefly

Razer Deathadder 2013

Logitech G935 Wireless

you can install msi afterburner and check if the cpu is a bottleneck

never played that game but most modern games shows quad core cpus weakness since your cpu is an i3 in today's performance standards

OP has a locked CPU, there is no overclocking that can be done.

I'm more curious as too what OP's full specs (board, SSD, etc) are as well. If there isn't an SSD for the OS and everything is on a single HDD then that might explain some issues but not all of them. Where is OP expecting to get these frames from and based off what benchmarks? Is there another 6700 machine with the same specs that shows different/higher FPS these performance expectations are based off of?

i cant overclock my CPU since its a non-K, but i already overclocked my GPU to max 1995 using MSI afterburner

then use msi afterburner to monitor cpu usage and gpu usage and report here what you're getting

then open the game, set it to your desired settings and do the following:

run task manager. check for bottlenecks

run a temp monitor. check for heat issues

Ryzen 9 3900X overclocked to 4.3-4.4 GHz

oh my board is Gigabyte Z170MX gaming 5 and a single WD black 1tb(OS and other files)

with these settings im getting around 50-60% usage on GPU and 70-80% on CPU in game,

under load temps GPU-78-82 CPU 73-78

it highly depends on the game

if it's heavily multi-threaded, your cpu might suffer

if it's heavy hitting on single-core, same deal

monitor individual cpu core and gpu usage during the game

if GPU is pinned at 99%, then it's your GPU slowing you down

if you CPU threads are constantly above 80-90%, then it's likely them causing issues.

not all threads have to be above 80-90%, some game hit the first few threads heaviest and that's enough to be the limiting factor.

-sigh- feeling like I'm being too negative lately

I've looked at a few videos. Around 80-110 FPS at 1080p seems to be the norm at both ultra and low settings with an Intel Core i7-6700 in Call of Duty Warzone, even with a GTX 1080.

But if you look, at low, neither the CPU nor the GPU are above 90%, and sometimes both are below 65% at the same time. At ultra, the GPU is at 95%+ while the CPU is at around 70%.

I also saw a video with the somewhat faster 6700K and an RX 5700, and at 1440p, they got around 70-110 FPS, but with the CPU cores at around 60-80% and the GPU at 97%-100% utilization.

I then took a look at a video with an 8700K and a GTX 1080, which at 1080p, generally stayed above 120 FPS, the GPU being around 99% while the CPU generally staying below 60%.
