The Witcher 3 being re-released for next gen

Recommended Posts

Posted · Original PosterOP

Summary

CD Projekt Red is creating a next generation version of The Witcher 3. It will feature many graphical and technical improvements, including ray tracing, across the base game and all DLC. It will be available as a standalone purchase on or free update for owners of the original game.

Quotes

Quote

The next generation edition of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will release as a standalone purchase for PC, Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5, as well as a free update for everyone who already owns the game on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4

My thoughts

I already like CD Projekt Red as developers and I think that this is great. I own The Witcher 3 and this will defiantly give me a reason to boot up the game again and maybe do a second play-through.

You can thank the OP. I have a feeling at some point I'll want to play it so I grabbed it off Steam for $5

I'd say there is such a thing as too many sequels for any franchise. I'm scared that TW4 might not be as good and it'd be cool to see CDPR create something cool and new.

Finally about damn time.

They already enhanced the game when PS4 Pro and Xbox One X came out but they left out the new features from the PC version.

Consoles have had HDR support on Witcher 3 since 2016 but PC never got it.

Am I being slightly unfair to CDPR, yes but it shouldn’t have taken this long for PC to get feature parity.

GTA 5 will be on 3 generations of consoles and has been out since 2013 with no real need to push it onto newer consoles since it's not gonna look or play any different, but rockstar will probably still charge $60, Witcher 3 is getting a fresh new coat of paint with new features all along with it being free to current owners, pretty big difference honestly.

The Witcher 3 is still a five (or six? My perspective of time is non-existent right now) year old game being re-released.

Which, I guess to be fair to this, the update will be free for any previous owners of the game and will just be an update for anyone who buys it once said patch comes up, but I am kinda curious as to what reason CDPR has for updating this.

Witcher 3 has propelled CDPR into AAA status and as such they'd get great PR bonuses by giving out free stuff for current owners along with the chance for people to experience a next-gen version of the game. Witcher 3 is insanely popular all things considered.

Haven't played Witcher 3 yet and probably won't for a while coz Cyberpunk 2077 comes out soon and that tickles my gentleman's parts better, but it'll be exciting to play Witcher 3 with ray tracing and all that goodness coz I'm finally coming over to get it.

TBH is there any E3 demo that isn’t downgraded on release?

The public will be mad about anything, remember when they got up in arms over a missing pudddle in Spider-Man?

CDPR aren't fools, they release things when they are ready, and they just finished cyberpunk for the most part so most of the team should be only now focusing on the next witcher game, so it will be sometime before anything comes to fruition,

they have access to a extremely cool universe though, so they have many different stories they can tell within it, everything from what happened in the past at the start when witchers were first created, to the story of Vesimir, or the story from the perspective of another witcher school, hell i would play a spin off where you play as sorceress for example

Witcher 3 is by far the better gams, though Far Cry can be fun when you just wanna turn you brain off and play.
