Good price for this pc?

Im planning on buying the following pc for around 2k:

CPU: R7 3800x

GPU: RTX 2080ti

MOBO: MSI X570 Gaming Pro Carbon Wi-Fi

AIO: NZXT Kraken x62

RAM:TridentZ Neo 32GB 3600MhZ

CASE: Phanteks Evolv X Andresite

SSD: Crucial MX300 M.2 1TB

SSHD: 2x 2TB Seagate

PSU: RM1000 Fully Modular

 

I'm asking this since I dont know what pricing will be when the 3000 series drops, and if it'll still be a good deal if so.

Just get a 3070? The 2080Ti will drop but not by that much

if he needs the extra VRAM then the 2080TI is better :)

You can save a few $ by going with the 3700X as a CPU. Same performance as the 3800X, lower price. Also the RTX 3070 (499$ launching october) will have the same performance as the RTX 2080Ti. (currently still selling for >1000$).

If someone did not use reason to reach their conclusion in the first place, you cannot use reason to convince them otherwise.

I'd say no, definitely not worth it. What is your use case for the system? (gaming, video editing, streaming, etc)

Nope imo, budget for the build? and workload? wait for ampere to actually launch first and you could also wait for zen 3 and check what it has to offer.

Ill be using it for gaming but I want a used pc so I can get a much better system for cheaper..

it definitly can. maybe not in vr golf or vr solitare, but people i know who use VR which is where my statement comes from, the fact that they can see the amount of VRAM used.

my best guess would be that it depends on the setting and the VR headset that's used, (different resolutions).

and probably also the game. but if 4GB VRAM is needed for alyx and that's the only thing OP would end up playing then sure he wouldn't need the extra VRAM
