Fan kit. Which should I buy.

Hi I am thinking of buying case fans for my build, and I'm vacillating between a fan kit that has PWM socket for motherboard control or one without motherboard PWM control but has RGB strip ports and is cheaper. Though both are from budget Chinese companies, I'm having a hard time in choosing. Is it better to control the fans through the motherboard? or just manually adjust it with the included remote.

Much better to do it from the motherboard, infact basically no one uses a remote, that is just incredibly unpractical.

They are basically identical fans but the orbis has pwm control which is a lot nicer than having to work with a remote. Also allows you to make a custom fan curve and just greater control overall.

Thanks for the amazing replies. One more question, Are these fan good enough to be used in an AIO? I'm also planning to buy one soon and thinking of using these fans instead of the included ones.

So there are coup,e of points to be made. One is the question about your mobo. If your mobo doesn't have ARGB support, these controllers having passthrough doesn't matter at all. And the one with PWM passthrough becomes more valuable as you get value even if remote would die on you. It just becomes hub.

 

The problem with both is that they use proprietary connectors for fans. This means that you can only use fans from same company to add or replace while using same hub. This is quite common for cheap fan kits.

 

As for AIO question, hard to say when AIO is from lesser known brand too. What I've read about cheap RGB fans is that they lack in performance. They look nice and are quiet, mostly. But don't really have same performance as what name-brand would give to you.
