Ah, Thats very standard for a compact voice recorder.

I use a Zoom q2n, I'm a musician so I need a decent audio recorder.

University Backpack: Swissgear 1900 ScanSmart Laptop Backpack (Black/Gray)

Partially used for carrying stuff, partially used to work out while pacing to and fro from classes.

  • Surface Pro 4 + Type Cover + Surface Pen
    • I was that semi-annoying/intimidating person that sat at the front of the class (poor eyesight) and tak-tak-tak'd on my laptop away at 90 WPM, staring the professor dead in the face.
    • Needed the 2-in-1 to draw chemical structures for O-CHEM and other diagrams for STEM classes.
  • Surface Pro 4 Charger
  • ATH-CKX9iS In-Ear Earphones
    • I'd seriously lose my mind without these. Constant music in my ears helped to distract me from the ennui, especially when I pulled all-nighters.
  • 1 - 4 Spiral Notebooks
  • 1 - 2 Thicc Textbooks (≈ 5 lbs/2 kg each)
    • I have .PDF files of 90% of my textbooks on my laptop, but I still had to bring in the physical book for some classes.
  • Organizer
    • Call me old-school, I never got used to scheduling things using my phone or laptop.
  • 20cm Plastic Ruler
    • I am sentimentally attached to this ruler and actually cried the one time I thought I'd lost it back in High School.
    • Unsure if I can find a similar replacement here in the U.S. Stupid imperial system. *grumble grumble*
  • 2 Pilot G2 0.38mm Pens (Black)
    • I have boxes of this stuff. Absolutely love this pen and this tip size.
    • Sometimes in class I spinny-spinny the pen with my index finger and thumb.
  • 1 Pilot G2 0.5mm Mechanical Pencil
    • Has the same profile as the Pilot G2 pen, so I spinny-spinny this too.
  • 0.5mm Pencil Lead Refills
  • Faber-Castell Eraser
    • If you use the untouched corner of my eraser instead of the used side (which I keep clean and graphite-free), I'm unfriending you.
  • Casio fx-300MS Scientific Calculator
    • This lil' one's been with me since Secondary School days, back in Malaysia. Haven't switched out its batteries, and still works to this day. 😁
  • Canon F-718SGA Scientific Calculator
    • I carried two calculators with me at all times because I was afraid either one's battery would die out on me, especially on exam days.
  • Texas Instruments TI-83 Plus Graphing Calculator
    • Deadweight. IDK how to use graphing calculators. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Only bought it because I thought I might've needed it for whatever classes.
  • Sticky Notes Pad
  • Mini Flashlight
    • Some quarters I took 8 PM classes. As a morning person, can't say I liked them very much.
  • 3.75 oz Vaseline
    • Skin gets dry, especially so in the Winter.
  • 2 Band-Aids
  • 2 Pocket Napkin/Tissue Packs
  • 2 Emergency TMI Things
  • Brookstone Super Size Umbrella
    • Portable, and fitted nicely in the backpack's bottle holder pockets.
    • When it rains, it suuucks. The weather, I mean. The umbrella's great.
  • 1 L Water Bottle
  • Daily Carry

Days with Lab Classes

Everything above, plus:

  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Plastic Goggles, Lab Coat
    • There's a chemical stain on the coat's sleeve that I could never get out...
    • Still unsure whether plastic goggles or headphones are worse when worn with glasses.
  • 1 Chonky Lab Notebook
  • 1 Pilot G2 0.38mm Pen (Black)
    • Never too many pens! 😁
  • 1 Dry Erase Marker (Black)
    • Write on glass surfaces. Wipe away with acetone or ethanol.
  • Scotch Magic Removable Tape
  • Combination Padlock
    • For locking our assigned lab drawers. Eventually stopped using it, because unlocking it was a PITA and wasted precious lab time.
  • Extra Hair Band

Laptop CaseTUMI Slim Tablet Cover for Surface Pro 4 (Black)

For short trips and long wait times. Handheld cases aren't really my thing (if I'm carrying something in a bag, I'd like both of my hands to be free), but I got it for a big whopping $0 with my Surface Pro 4 purchase. Only started using it after Uni, and I only bring this setup when there's only one destination -- less chance of me being forgetful and leaving it behind on a chair or desk somewhere.

I am an illustrator, get really to be underwhelmed

Laptop backpack (generic one I found at walmart like 7 years ago, it had a lot of pockets and the main 1 had tons of space):

First gen i5 laptop with a modded battery to have several days of active use battery life + mod for 1600x900 display and custom fiberglass outer shell for indestrucability (it weights a ton! and I cant bring it on planes)

wireless mouse

3ds

Small notepad and pen

sunglasses

Whatever book im reading at the time

Small wacom usb tablet

A snack

shitty awful drawing pencil set that I need to replace

colored pencils

ziploc bag with cheap watercolor brushes and paints

sketch pad

250gb SSD in a 2.5 hard drive USB enclosure

16gb flash drive

like 6 pairs of ear buds and only 1 of them works, if i can manage to untangle it

a bunch of old crumbs

hair ties

phone

probably half of a #2 pencil somewhere in there

And maybe my other sock?
