What is in your laptop/tech bag?

Recommended Posts

Posted · Original PosterOP

We've all seen those YouTube videos where they go through their laptop bag/tech bag/tech they bring with them when they travel. I figured it would be cool to see what non-tech YouTubers bring with them. So LTT Forum members, what is in your tech bag?

My laptop bag has the following:

Bag: Amazon Basics 15.6" Laptop and Tablet Bag

  Smallest pocket:

3 microfiber clothes of different sizes

  Big (middle) Pocket:

    Laptop: MSI GS66 Stealth

    Laptop Charger

Tablet: iPad 5th gen in STM Dux case or iPad pro 2020 11" with 2nd gen Apple Pencil and Logitech Slim Folio Pro case

  Organizer Pocket:

Uni Kuru Toga mechanical pencil with extra eraser and lead (best pencils there are)

    Pilot G-2 Pen

    No-name portable charger from costco

    Airpods 2nd Gen

    Some old Bose wired earbuds

    MSI Clutch GM11 Gaming Mouse

    Wall wart with usb c

    Wall wart with usb a

usb a to micro b cable

usb c to usb c cable

    lightning cable

    flashdrive

Sorry mods if this is should be in off topic, but i figured it was tech related and belonged here

I haven't really traveled anywhere in fucking ages, but the last time I lugged my laptop somewhere, I just brought my laptop, my charger for it (of course), a flash drive with some PS2 games on it, a controller and my headphones.

Why the different sizes?

One is a really big one that came with the laptop but doesnt work too well. The medium one works well enough but leaves a bunch of streaks/particles. And the last one works really well but is tiny so its a pain to clean bigger screens with it.

I did the same. But I use 0.7mm (occasional 1mm) for pens and 0.5mm for mechanical pencils. Pilot G2 are the 100% best pens though (i have around 100 of them).

My only laptop I ever take anywhere is my work one.

So I have my work laptop

Charger

30,000 mh battery pack for phones/accessories with a solar panel for charging if needed

wireless Platronics headset

Bluetooth earbuds

Wireless mouse/kb

Extra cat 6 cable 6'

A pin coded 1TB HDD

a couple of hard tokens

Notepad with Pen (vendor goodies!)

Travel size stick of deodorant (in case)

Small bottle of Cologne (in case)

Wireless phone charging puck.

Think that is about it. I don't want a huge bag to tote around when I am on a business or leisure travel (yes I have to bring it with for vacations too).

items always in my bag:

Spoiler

tech stuff:

a laptop (that is now dead)

a universal charger with the tip for my laptop (original charger died)

other tips for the charger in-case someone else needs it (times used: 2)

a wireless mouse

graphic tablet and pen (wacom CTL-490)

an external hard disk

a battery bank (or two)

cable to charge my phone

3-way wall plug extension

IEMs (in a pouch)

AA batteries x2 for anything that needs it

common used items:

a spare t-shirt + a bag to keep it clean/keep changed shirt (i sweat a lot)

a small sewing kit (mainly use the scissors anyways)

a pack of tissue (to replace the one i keep in my wallet when it runs out)

a pack of small screw driver for laptop repairs on the spot

if im going to class:

Spoiler

a file to keep the notes for class

a pencil case with all the necessary things (including my precious calculator casio FX-991ES)

a book of graph paper

small stack of A4 paper

pack of foolscap paper

if im going away for a few days:

Spoiler

my mechanical keyboard

an 8-way USB charger

Things I need help with:

Spoiler

I hate Intel's pricing, Ryzen's weird quirks, Nvidia's pricing, and Radeon GPUs in general

Spoiler

Products I like:

Spoiler

Sony Xperia Z1 / Z2 / 10 ii, Asus Strix 970 / 1070, Samsung SSD, WD HDD, Corsair PSUs (AX, RM, CX(grey)), GeForce GPU, NZXT N450/S340, be quiet! Coolers, G.Skill Trident RAM, Logitech M525, Logitech G440, Razer Deathadder Elite

Products I hate:

Spoiler

Xperia Z3, XiaoMi 5c, Radeon GPUs, Razer Audio Products, any bloatwares

Companies I absolutely adore: (and hope it stays that way)

Spoiler

be quiet! - sent me AM4 mounting for my DRP3 even though it's way past the timeframe stated, no questions asked

Corsair - very good RMA experience, absolutely recommend

Companies I hate:

Spoiler

Nvidia, Intel, Apple, TMT (Thundermatch, a retailer)

Personal Blacklisted Companies:

Spoiler

Acer monitors, Gigabyte, Seagate HDD, Kingston SSD, Razer (except their mouse), XiaoMi Phones

Remember, just because I had good/bad experiences with these companies/product, doesn't mean you will have similar experiences too. I would still recommend these products if they made sense for your needs, but I'll add a disclaimer of my experience if it's relevant. Feel free to DM me asking why they are where they are.
