Why can't i extend volume of C drive?

Hi guys, 

I have a 2TB Sata HDD that was partitioned years ago into 2 1tb volumes. 

I'm selling pc now and wanted to remove the partition and extend volume of C drive back to normal. 

I formatted and deleted the partition but I can't seem to extend the volume of C even if that partition is now unallocated space.

If selling you might want to format the drive anyway, and reinstall windows.

 

IIRC, you can only extend volume into adjoining partitions, whereas yours has another partition between... but could be wrong.

You can only extend to adjacent free space. The recovery partition prevents that.

 

Make a Windows install USB, boot on that, delete all partitions and make a fresh install.

Could i just reset the pc and do this as I have lost the win10 key years ago?

Reset the PC won't change the partition layout.

Thanks Dude the code shows up however I can't remember if I upgraded from Windows 7 to 10 so is this code going to work if it this was a code for win 7?

Should be OK I think. Just in case, before wiping etc, download a new copy of windows, and put onto a USB... you can run it unlicensed if the key doesn't work.

It likely won't even ask since the installer will detect there's already an install there before you delete the partitions and take the licence info from it.

Hi guys I just did a fresh install windows via USB. The product key from cmd didn't work so I just selected i don't have product key and it seems the pc remembered the previous one and it activated itself. I extended c drive volume in the process. Thanks

I just extended my C drive by using a free tool (Minitool). And it worked for me. I can suggest this to you as well. It takes some time but works.

Hi mate thanks for the input. I'll keep that in mind if I ever need to do this again

Would have suggested that if he was going to continue using it, but for selling you rather want to wipe your stuff and do a fresh install anyway, so 2 birds with one stone.
