Sabrent M.2 512GB Nvme dropped dramatically in speed

MrBaker89

Hi Guys,

My Sabrent drive has dropped dramatically in speed on my work PC.

Previous speeds where around 3,250MB/s Read and 2750MB/s write.

I was transferring a file yesterday and noticed it was slower than usual so I ran CrystalDiskMark and came up with speeds of 1509MB/s Read & 450 - 725MB/s Write.  (Image Attached)

I have checked all drivers made sure everything is up to date, SMART is reporting a max temp of 46 degrees C and HWinfo is reporting an average temp of 43 Degrees C.

The drive is only 36% full.

Specs are:

Ryzen 5 2600x

B450 Tomahawk Max

16GB Corsair CL16 3200Mhz

Sabrent Rocket 512GB Nvme drive

Corsair 650W Gold Psu

Any ideas on why the speeds have dropped like this?

A lot of drives can't sustain their Burst speeds once cache or another buffer mechanism gets full...

Usually after some many GBs are copied it will slow down and recover afterwards.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

Thank you for your reply.

I am now getting these read seeds but the write speed seems atrocious?

I've heard back from Sabrent and they have confirmed the drive is faulty.

Can anyone recommend a good cloning software so I can clone my current drive please.
