Does having 10% space unallocated really improves ssd performance?

So yesterday on the forum i was recommended by someone to try crucial ssd software and so i did, many things on it like momentum cache and stuff wasn't supported on mine but over provisioning worked and i used the recommended 11gb unallocated after which when i shutdown pc at night it did that like in 2sec and i was blown away because of late my shutdown has been unusually slow like 15-20sec boot time also improved but not as significantly, it was like 30sec before now it's down to like 20.

Though i still have lots of free space but i still prefer to have all space on my SSD available as something about having unallocated space doesn't sound right. If that preformance improvement has been caused by overprovisioning then i might keep it but i want to be sure.

Yes, the free space is used as a SLC which makes basically everything faster. Generally 20% is recommended.

I think I was the one who recommended the Crucial SSD utility.
