is it woth to upgrade  my   soundblaster ae-5  to ae-9??

 

i am playing  games and  music.. ...

 

do  you believe  that ae-9 is better  for  gaming and music from ae-5??

At that price point I'd suggest getting an external DAC and amp, there's no reason to choose a sound card over an external solution unless the software features are that important to you. The AE-9 in particular doesn't even have the benefit of saving desk space because of the external box.

The AE-9 will offer better inputs for like XLR and 6.3mm and 3.5mm headphone and mic ports. I have the AE-9 and I love it and the software it delivers. I would actually say that some of the components in the AE-9 is better than some external dacs in the same price range.

Probably not.

Did you recently buy equipment that justifies the upgrade?

Unless you have pretty good ears and very good headphones you won't be able to tell the difference in terms of DAC.

And there are much cheaper ways to use a XLR mic.

 

As a side note, the AE-9 is very expensive for what it is, yikes.

Yes it is. A bit better yes. Longevity maybe but not noticeable different.

Not true. For the specs and software it offers is actually worth the pricetag. By your comment I can understand you haven't tried the AE-9 before. The AE-9 is also good for people that want to upgrade to XLR mic in the future without having to buy so many other things.
